Hi

FRom what I have heard, riding with an undersize numberplate (or a car shape one, they are not legal on a bike whatever size they are) is in the eyes of the law the same offence as riding without a numberplate

All the best

Ive seen homemade painted wood ones, and one made out of 6 'normal' size ones in a picture of bike mag, it was about a guy who got so sick of being pulled he decided to take the piss, it looked sooo funny Laughing

i dont understand the attraction of a small number plate, they are a requirement for every vehicle on the road, no one thinks any less of you if you have one, or any more of you if you have a small one

so why not just make things easier for everyone, and stick to the one that the authorities want you to have

less hassle in the long run, why risk a fine, or points if you get a dick policemen

can the plate really bug anyone that much?

just my two cents....

If bikers incist on smaller rear plates we'll all be forced to get front plates in the end. The legal size aint HUGE and at least we only need one. It's the bacon-slicers we need to worry about

The law also included items such as speed limits and no dark visors - we dont stick to them.

I agree that this particular law is best adhered to tho. A small plate is more obvious from a distance than a race can or dark visor so all it does is attract attention. I can see the appeal tho - they do make sports bikes look better.

there's more point to breaking the speeding and visor laws...

speeding's fun, as long as you do it where it's safe (not thru villages for example)

visors... that's kinda a safety thing too, you're breaking that one cos you want to be able to see where your going when it's bright.

the numberplate thing doesn't have any particular benefit, so why risk getting pulled for something pointless

he is right, so :P

but this post is about smaller plates

no they dont make the bikes look better, it makes no difference, i reckon motorbikes would give a better impression to people if they all had the same size plates

but the way i see it most laws are there for a sensible reason, why should we make things harder on ourselves, we get enough grief as it is, its almost like gettin a small plate is just being rebellious for the sake of it

my views on speeding and visors and cans i will hold till another post 8o)

just imagine being twatted off ur bike by a shitty nova. As he pulls away you try to get his plate but it's 5"x3" and going off at gr8 speed.
Same as if ur girl/bloke/mum/gran etc got hit by a nonce on ans RS125 (No off) and his pl8 was tiny. Some laws weren't founded in one of the less *sober* moments of the government:)

thats horrible but you have to admit that an undertray would look silly without a small plate to go with it
