I took my worn brake pads off in the workshop and then left the bike for a day whilst I waited for the new ones to arrive. During that time, someone had come along and pulled the front brake lever, pushing the pistons out. I didn't think much of it at the time and just pushed them back in. After putting everything back together, there was no feeling in the brakes at all even after pumping for ages. So I asked my Dad and he helped me bleed the brakes (the proper way). Put in some new fluid and they still feel a little spongy.

What could the problem be?

Thanks.

Hi

Probably still air in the system. Air often gets stuck in the top banjo bolt. Check there is enough fluid, put a spanner on the top banjo, wrap the master cylinder, spanner, etc in some cloth, pull the brake lever hard and while it is pulled crack off the banjo bolt (allowing a tiny bit of fluid and hopefully air to escape) and tighten it again.

The cloth is just there to catch the fluid to stop it spraying all over the place.

All the best

Keith

How worn are the disks.

As new pads will take a bit to fully bed into the disk.

Its as the other guys say, air sitting near the banjo bolt on the Master Cylinder where your lever goes. On my NC, it had no brakes at all until I had bled it here!
