I know this is a mega weird question but I have the opportunity to buy an Italian Import, un-registered, Full Power, NSR 125 for just over £1k. The problem I have is that I'm still on L plates there for can't legally ride the full power version. Would it be easy to restrict the bike back down to 12bhp?
Any help on this would greatly aid my decision from a previous discussion I had on which bike to buy.
Many Thanks in advance

Hardly anyone runs their 125 restricted, and I have never heard of anyone getting caught. It would frustrate me having that power and not being able to use it, loads of people on here had NSR's and they were derestricted. The bikes are restricted in a few ways; a restriction in the exhaust, an intake restriction, CDI restriction and a different front sprocket. The easiest way would probably be to get a CDI or go to a local bike garage and see what they have to say. It is feasible to re-restrict it but personally I do not see any point in doing that
How would the powervalve restrict the engine? after you pass 7krpm or so it is fully open, so without it,will have the same affect as an open powervalve. |

I recently bought an Irish imported NSR which is also full power. I wasn't sure whether to re-restrict it either at first, but there's no point if your sensible. Don't get caught doing 100mph and you'll be fine. Do your test as soon as possible and you won't have any problems. |
