Can anyone just quickly tell me:

a) how much it roughly costs to fill up an RS125 tank

b) how many miles a full tank will get you in town travelling and on major roads

Mine roughly needs 1 litre of 2T oil per 40-50 litres of petrol, 400-500 miles (Motul 710).

1 litre bottle = £12.85 in my local HG shop

Hi

Kept a log of petrol for a while. The RS (early one with a 34mm carb) averaged 55mpg, and not really much lower. Take it very easy and it managed 74.5mpg during the fuel strikes.

All the best

Keith

Not bad.. I get over 50mpg only on motorways. How you managed 74.5mpg would be nice to know.. any tips? Wink

I know every bike is different, but even when my bike was 11kW and with original setup as new I was getting only 50mpg.

Yeah, don't bother! That was taking it really easy. 5k max, light throttle openings, hitting the kill switch and pulling the clutch to roll up to red lights, engine off when stopped, etc. Made running in look like thrashing the bike.

Possibly more is where it is ridden. Short journies round town will hammer the fuel consumption.

All the best

I've just worked it out then that I would get approx 100 miles out of £10 petrol at the current petrol rates.

Does that sound about right?

The current highest rate in my area is 113.9p per litre.

I got that from www.petrolprices.com

Not really that economical when you take into account the number of spark plug you will need Laughing

Yep, probably about right.

Very true, but spark plugs were readily available. Petrol wasn't.

All the best

Personally......

Running in, no more than 6K RPM (first 500 miles) : 73MPG

All revs, Bike standard (next 4500 miles : 53MPG

After addition of bigger carb, straight through
exhaust and pipercross air filter (latest 1000 miles) : 36MPG

But soooooo worth it Very Happy (Bare in mind that the final figure is WOT 80-90% of the time.

The bikes just for fun these days.

From memory, about £10 to fill the tank, less even.

Couldn't say MPG as I used to thrash it about everywhere.
