Would you rather die for your ideals or comply with an overwhelming force and live when it means sacrificing the things you stand for?

I always used to be of the opinion that why didn't jewish holocaust victims claim they werent jewish to escape being killed etc etc


After a set of dreams I've had recently (I'll post details if anyones interested) I think I am convinced otherwise. I now think it is far preferable to die for your ideals that it is to submit.

Well I'm not sure it would have worked to be quite honest....

But if someone is rounding up all the jews in the local neighborhood, there must surely be a temptation to say "Jews, what Jews.... I haven't seen any Jews....."

Perhaps a better example would be say when romans went executing christians, as a minority movement it surely would have been easy to betray your beliefs and claim/renounce your christian-ness...

I suppose if you're totally convinced god exists and is looking over your shoulder you'd be prepared to die for your faith.

There were cases of SS camp guards/staff killing themselves because they couldn't accept what they saw being done. That's more of an ideal I'd be prepared to die for.

Can't comment on the religious aspect but when I was living in spain I had a coked up irishman point a gun in my face late one night in front of my missus following a nasty argument starting with him slating the English. I used to rent a room from him, he was also on the run.

I was your typical 18 year old essex boy and had only been with her for about three weeks. There was no way I was backing down and "losing face", then he pulls a gun out and points it straight at my face, she screamed a bit.

By this point I thought "in for a penny"....

So I told him to shoot me and called him a bog irish cunt.

It all ended with her going home and me and him having a beer and a few lines, mental!

I moved out the next morning, though I did end up working for him as a minder for a bit.

I dare say that the male pride which wouldn't let me shut my mouth would rear its head up again in the same situation. Don't get me wrong if I was on my own I would think twice or perhaps thrice, but in front of my missus or people I know..........

Stupidity stops me acting in what I see to be an inferior way.

So yeah 80% certain I would die for my principles.

Pointless though because nobody actually gives a shit.

I would like to say yes but because I got kids will say no, my survival for them is tountamount unless it was a choice between me or the kids then I would place my head on the chopping block and die knowing my death was honourable.
