Lands End is the usual place, although the Lizard is just as bad.

Stonehenge is not really worth a stop, teeming with tourists Rolling Eyes
I went last year and pulled up on the pavement opposite and took a few photos.
If you are that far down then Cheddar Gorge is well worth the ride (as recommended to me by Tonka & Clanger). I rode the road through the Gorge 5 times as you don't appreciate it the first couple of times through it.

Nothing at the lizzard except an over priced shop. Lands End is the place you wont to go as it has attractions and other things.

IMHO Land's End is sh!te as well, over commercialised and over priced. link

I rode a great little road from Sennen to St Just and went a bit further on, I think it is the B3306.
Why not travel a little further along the coast and stop near St Ives - a beautiful little Cornish fishing village, more picturesque than Sennen

It would be nice to say you have done lands end to john ogroats though. Yes it is over priced but i would save the money and explore cornwall.

I live down in cornwall and it has the best scenery i have seen. You might as well spend time in the local villages and towns where you wont be stuck with loads of tourist and take in the scenery, the coast roads around are worth riding.

Hi, yeah that what we're doing.
We're not just riding from john ogroats jumping on a motorway all the way down to lands end. Were going to do as much as possible off the motorway, as its boring and riding a naked bike my neck would snap off lol.
Thinking of this type of route, around the coasts. Its not exact but thats the basic idea. I was hoping to find out some good places to visit on our journeys Thumbs Up
Cheers
Jamie

Something like this maybe;
https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&tab=wl

2589 miles Thumbs Up

Very Happy

Don't have much experience of down south however Dunnet head is much better (and further north) than John O'Groats which is a fairly nasty little tourist trap.

When you go north of Carlisle, stick to the west coast far more scenic than the east. I'll send you a wee route map with Visit points. Even though I say stick to the west, Edinburgh and Perth/Stirling are well worth a visit.

How many days are you anticipating up here in God's country?

Hiya

Cheers buddy, wel we're giving giving the full tour 2weeks so i guess 4-5 days maybe. Do you reckon that would be enough time to reach john ogroats and down. Yeah i think we'll be going up on the west side and coming down on the east side.

Any advice is appreciated Thumbs Up

On Google Maps, at the top right of your screen it says "Print, Send, Link". Click link and it will then give you a URL for your route, if you just copy what's in your address bar then that doesn't work.

Motorways !!! ... would rather do shorter and A and B roads ... but each to there own, have fun nonetheless ... Thumbs Up

Hopefully avoiding motorways as much as possible, as after a while they just get boring Sad

Will be using it from manchester up the lakes and then hopefully coasts the rest of the way, but obviously if were a bit behind schedule i quick blast on the motorway to catch up wont do any harm.

Just fingers crossed for decent weaaather at the start of september Thumbs Up

I think this is also my plan this year aswell. But if your going down the east side I can't think of anything in the Northeaster area to go see. We don't have many landmarks, well not famous ones anyway. Theres the angel of the north but thats a bit wank really, you could replicate it with a dog turd in the garden.

I always thought Lindisfarne would be worth visiting at least once.

Lindisfarne is awesome I forgot about that place I spent a weekend there a few year ago. Theres a few things kicking about here, we have country roads that lead to abbeys and a fair bit of coast land. Shields is an alright ride going along the coast its all open and well ....... coasty lol.

Theres just nothing outstanding and landmark like to go and see.

We have this:

Ermm this aswell:

Nothing too spectacular.

Carlisle - A74, then A75, Dumfries, A76 to Kilmarnock, then A71 Irvine, then the A78 all the way round via Largs and Greenock, then the Erskine bridge on the A82, all the way up to Ballachulish - Fort William - Spean Bridge and Invergarry.
At Invergarry the A87 to Balmacara, if you want then on to Skye.
Then the A890 to Achintree, then the A896 to Ardarroch, then take the un numbered Applecross road - Applecross - Fearnmore - Sheildaig. This is possibly one of the best roads you will ever travel in your entire life!
After that life changing experience follow the A896 to Kinlochewe, then the A832 Gairloch - Aultbea - Breamore Junction. A835 to Leadmore, the A837 to Inchnadamph, A894 to Laxford Bridge, then A838 to Durness (outstanding place!).
Then the top road a838/836 along the coast through Wick, Dunnet head and John 'o' Groats - have the obligatory picture, in front of the falling down hotel!
Then the A99 to the A9 via Dunbeath, Golspie (where the Iron age house is), then Dornoch (where Madonna got wed - obviously not for long), Tain and on to Inverness.
At Inverness jump on the a9 which takes you all the way to Perth, across country, then M9 to Edinburgh (or you could go on the A9 via Stirling - you know where Wallace gied y'all a good kicking).
Then from Edinburgh, Straight down the A7 via Selkirk and Hawick back to Engerland.

Though I think I would give this 5/6 days.

Hang on... Google map to follow

Via the coast or inland? After watching the coast series I have been doing lots of bits of the coastline during my exploration. If I was capable of longer bike rides, I'd love to do a round robin tour. Thumbs Up

For Northern England I recommend going up through the peak district, crossing the M62 around Huddersfield / Hebden Bridge right in the middle of the Pennines, up into the Yorkshire Dales, then heading West into the Lake District up to Carlisle and onwards from there.

Maybe on the way down head through Northumberland and its coast as well as the North York moors perhaps?
