Guiness makes drunk in a mellow way and gives you a mellow hang over, not like lager.

No. Never. I get worried if I have a half a pint at lunchtime then ride home at 6.00pm!

I do drive the morning after party usually and feel fairly rough doing it. Had to drive through central London today after a party and that's put me off anything like that.

Although various forum members may not believe me, I take great pains to ensure i never ride under the influence, leaving at least twelve hours between my last drink and getting on the bike. In severe cases (pissed out of my head at a club) I don't ride the day after, however i'm feeling.

It's not worth the risk, I'll get pissed at home, but being pissed on the roads is a different matter entirely, and I don't do it.

Back in my scooter days i used to get pissed a lot, one day i phoned work explaining i couldn't work on the scooters ecause i was still semi-drunk from the night before. The manager gave me a lecture, and said he wouldn't send me out till 6pm (i started at 4).

He sent me out at 6, while my head was still spinning. At 7:30 I lost control on a corner, and slid the scoot along its side at 35mph into a dry stone wall, writing off my lid and gloves in the process as well as causing serious damage to the scooter.

So now, I don't get on the bike unless i feel absolutely sure.

A simple test - Play vice city - If you can't fly a helicopter safely then you can't ride a bike Thumbs Up Wink .

I have ridden over the limit before... But, I also saw the error in my ways a very, very long time ago. I would not be caught on my bike in a drunk state, ever . < full stop

It's extremely dangerous and basically stupid. Smile

I did once on my moped, when I was 16.
Was drinking vodka all night and spent 4 hours on the bathroom puking, then went home and hardly couldn't see. But it was all good because i stayed between the 2-4 lines in the middle of the road all the way home. Had 10 miles home.

Haven't done it since and i never will. It was no fun and it was winter. Had I crashed I would have passed out and frozen to death.

I'm not a big drinker tho, so the chance of me drink driving again is very small.

Last year around this time there was an offer on Stella in ASDA. 24 Bottles for so much. So i bought 24 Stella and I still have 9 left. That should give you an idea of my drinking. LOL.

I'll take those Stella's off your hands if you're having difficulty Thumbs Up

But I don't drink much either

I also bought one of those huge bottles of Budweiser on the same day. Been in the fridge ever since and I went to drink it about 2 weeks ago and it was passed the expiration date so I binned it. Gutted tho I was looking forward to that one =/

Hi

Don't think so.

However the actual accident risk from being at the drink drive limit is not as bad as you have been led to believe. Around the limit the accident risk has, roughly, doubled. Sounds bad, but that probably puts the risk on a particular journey from 0.00001% to 0.00002%.

All the best

Keith

I don't drink much, but the only time I've been out was after a half of Old English, I doubt it would have effected me anyway.

Hi

The limit is, very roughly, 2 pints. But that is down to all sorts of factors such as your weight and the strength of the beer.

All the best

Keith

the limits are stuck on the back of the door at our accomodation block Laughing

looking at it i was surprised how much it varies, 1 pint of standard cider can carry up to 3 units which puts you over the limit

beers vary greatly on what they carry but its generally less than cider, and a bottle of alcopops seems to be on average 1.6-1.8 units

so its pretty easy to go over the limit by those guidelines, of course if you can handle your drink then you may be able to drink 2-3 pints before a breath test will ave you

i personally feel i can ride ok after 1 pint, but thats my limit, after that i start to feel the effects and wouldnt be confident in my riding ability

Although how an individual can handle their drink might affect how drunk they feel and how screwed their reactions are it will have very little effect on the blood alcohol level which the drink drive limit refers to.

All the best

What can i say! How would you feel if someone lost control of their bike and took out someone you care about and you found out they were a bit "wasted" from the night before? Evil or Very Mad

Yeah. But if I phoned my boss and said I can't come to work I was p1ssed last night. I possibly could be over the limit, He'd tell me to f*ck off. I know what your saying but sometimes you have to ride/drive the next morning! Sometimes you don't mean to get hammered. Confused

Agreed, but try explaining that to the judge when he's making a paper dart out of your driving licence Laughing besides there's taxis, busses and trains, crap yes but a shit load cheaper and less hassle than losing your licence or killing someone!
