As I can't get out of the house because of the snow.
(I could but I don't fancy riding 20mph with both feet down for 5 miles at a high risk of dropping my baby...)
I was thinking I might as well clean my helmet considering all the snow has dried off it from the other night leaving loads of water marks. (It's pretty filthy anyway...)

Are their any typical cleaning products at home I could use that's actually effective?

Or do I have to go out and buy some fancy polish stuff...

Thumbs Up

EDIT* I want to achieve a decent shine. Not just a soap and sponge quickie.

You're stuck in the house, so you want to polish your helmet?

What do you do when you're stuck in the house?
I have no coursework to be doing, I'm seeing the missus tomorrow so what's left?

You're 17yrs, That's the first and last thing to do every day, before during and after you have done with your girl. Enjoy it now, because once you are married it is forbiden and only a crafty tug every now and then is available. once you are over 40yrs you give up.

On topic though, I found some very old Autogylm Visor cleaner under the sink so I'll use that.

As for the helmet, I have cillit bang?
Any good or will it burn through my lid?

Right, didn't use cilit bang in the end, used Vanish and Autogylm.

So here's the results. Only realised I should of taken a picture before earlier, but never the less I can see the difference and am happy. There's a lot more shine than the picture makes out. Very Happy

Autogylm is very, very, very good...

I've got one of those Fogcity anti fog things stuck inside my visor that's now peeling off, however the glued on edging is still stuck pretty well to the visor. Anyone know the best stuff to help remove the glue so I can fit a pinlock instead? Thumbs Up

Just for the future, don't use Cilit Bang. Great for cleaning alloy wheels, not so great for helmets.

Used Vanish mate. Thumbs Up

Admittedly it was clothe stain remove, but it did do a good job.
