why do people have to do it? went into game yesterday to get a replacement psp and while i was waiting got chatting to the guy behind the counter he was telling me how the snow is a bastard cause he rides a bike. great i thought, something in common.
what bike have you got?
a cg, managed to destroy my old one haha.
i thought they were bulletproof.
guess not, though i did get 90 out of it.
i used to have one too. top speed i could get is about 65.
naa mate they do at least 70. i was changing gear late and i was going down a hill.
*cue me leaving the shop there and then*
i put this to you, why does this have to happen? cant people just be honest? the only people they're gonna fool are non bikers and themselves.
rate this as boring or whatever as im sure you will but hey, it allowed me to vent a little. ____________________ CG125 > ZX6r > GSX600F > CB250n + ZX7R+ Bandit 1200 |

I'm 18 myself and I would agree 95% of the "yoofs" find it too expensive or too difficult (or both) to get a proper license and jump on a 50/125 and try to convince everyone and everything it tops out at 90mph and 120 going downhill with the wind behind them when travelling along the earth's axis of movement lol I think it's hilarious. I too had a 50cc which was kept restricted and plodded along at 30/35 downhill and then a 125cc which did about 60-65 (indicated) on long stretches. I now have a 600 (yes 33BHP ) but rather than go all out power power power I prefer to build up slow riding skill and cornering before increasing power. Just my £0.02 |

I've never actually talked to anyone with a 50 or a 125 that has told me the truth about how fast it goes ____________________ Bandit 600 |

I had two CGs. First did about 60, maybe a little over if you screwed it down a big hill (it didn't like that at all). Second one did a bit more - but 65 on the flat was only possible with a following wind. Actual top speed is about 58-63mph for the CG, despite ludicrous claims of owners to the contrary
Now, my elderly RXS can do 110 three up, into a force 9 gale and still return 230mpg |

My CG125 (2002 model) is standard as far as i am aware. NB: All speeds were "indicated" so i've got the customary 10% taken off in the [brackets]
Over the period i used it, for a year, last ridden about a year ago. It could get to near 70[63] downhill and maybe 65[59] on the flat.. I used it on the motorway a fair amount, and towards the end of the year it couldn't hold 65 anymore, i think i'd put a stone on (to 14 stone) and the mileage had gone from 13K to ~20K. At this point i cruised down the motorway at 60[54] because i didn't want to kill it.
I once got 73[66] down the motorway, on the downhill bit as you are "entering Wales" from England (there's a sign there that says "Entering Wales"). I probably could've got it 75[68] as there was more hill and a tiny bit more left in it, but i really really didn't want it to explode. So i let off (a little - otherwise it'd probably just stop due to lack of power ).
And that, is a standard CG125 speed. Not 90. 90!? Maybe if driven off a cliff? ____________________ -- Ingah |

What about people that exaggerate what others have exaggerated to post in a thread like this? .
My CG would do 65 indicated on the flat generally (bit ducked down, etc), best I ever saw was 75 with a gentle slope and wind behind me. I was wearing waterproof trousers made of bin bags, I don't know if that helped or hindered. |

56plate CG 3.5K on the clocks... 2 mile straight (which I've managed to get buses to 55mph on ) and the most I could get of the CG was 57mph. Having said that, I am 6'3 and 15stone. Oh and I was... ahem... "racing" a CBR600 at the time (well, being teased by/laughed at is more like it)
Maybe bullshit gets less with age. I find stories of my obvious (and numerous) inadequacies comical and they tend to go down better at the pub than the stories I hear from other people about how their 1.5 Suzuki Swift will beat an M3 off the line ____________________ 1977 Honda CG125

I don't mind people exaggerating about top speeds or the fastest they have ridden.
It's the people who say 'I used to own a bike' when they see me in my bike gear and then give some random made up bike name. Why do they feel the need to...? ____________________ My Bikes: Piaggio NRG| Aprilia RS 125| Suzuki GSX-R 600|Yamaha Fazer Ducati 848
