Do the cource on the training center bike.

If you cant u turn the cbr then your gonna need a few lessons as your gonna be doing them on a big heavy 500.
Get out there and practice turning your cbr its easy when you get the hang of it.
Keep the clutch in and set the revs to around 2500 and keep them there then gently release the clutch to its biting point and when the bike starts moving pull it in a bit so you dont go to fast and release it if you go to slow.
Also look ahead to where your going and not at the front wheel or side of the road. Your bike will go wherever your looking so if its the curb thats where you will end up.
You need to force yourself not to put your feet down if you think your going down let the clutch out a bit more and speed up.

Most important thing on the u turn or any other slow manouvere is to control the speed with the back brake the whole time. Literally ride the back brake and let the power pull the bike against it, you will be FAR more stable.

You will have to do a u turn in your test I think and I cannot believe it's impossible to U-turn a CBR125 Laughing

Agree!

Also make sure you use the whole width of the U-turn area. You'r given a lot of room to get your bike round, don't do my mistake and turn too sharp and bang the handlebars against the tank!

Also keep the rev's up throughout so you know that the power is there if you need it if for any reason you get into trouble i.e. going too slow.

Yep, definitely. getting on and off the power will make the bike unstable so by holding the back brake you can keep the revs high and the clutch slipping without picking up speed. Don't touch the front brake though!

i had a cbr 125 and it did uturns perfectly, its got hardly anything to do with the bike and all to do with your technique and confidence...

if someone told you uturns on a cbr 125 was piss easy you would keep going untill you cracked it,

CBR125 is a perfectly adequate bike for taking a cbt on and im sure with alot of practice you would be fine

Maybe it's because I keep my tick-over speed quite high, but if I'm running out of steam on a U-turn I just slip my clutch and sail the rest of the way, I never go so fast as I've had to use the back brake Confused

The point of the back brake is more about stability than controlling speed as such. It lets the power keep pulling at the back wheel throughout the manouvere which makes it far more stable and smooths out jolts from changes in throttle position or clutch...trust me on this Laughing

If you can walk your bike in a u-turn you should be able to ride it in a u-turn over the same space.

My RS125 had a really wide turning circle, which meant it could only u-turn in a *really* wide bit of road. Eventually I just started doing lessons on their bikes cause it was less hassle. I take it that is what you mean by "doesn't do u-turns"

Ok, ok I trust you Laughing I must be so well practised at U-turns I don't even notice how I do them any more but they always seem to be very quick and smooth. And Lord knows I've had to do a lot of U-turns last year when I kept getting lost in the country side Laughing

All very sound advice. Exactly what i did when i passed DAS last year. Brake brake was on, clutch to control speed.

I also try to keep myself upright and push the bike on its side. Sort of like counter leaning. If im doing a right "U" turn i slide half an arse off to the left and try to keep my body upright whlie the bike turns.
It got my Yammy R125 doing nice U turns with some practice, same with the Gixxer.

You'll whinge your little CBR won't do u-turns but your instructor will no doubt do a u-turn on his enormous BMW just to show you, and then tell you to STFU and get on with it.

You/your bike will be restricted to 33bhp for 2 years.

Keep practising and you will be just fine.

This is what happens if you over practice;

Complaining about misspellings on the internet is like complaining about rain in England. Saying that, it is in the Official BCF rule book '09 and forum guidelines to spell properly and in a grammatically acceptable way.

Trouble is they're not kids! If they are on here they're probably old enough to ride a bike; I seem to recall being literate at 16 Laughing I have to agree it is amazing how poor the standard of education seems to be these days but maybe it's just because you communicate with people on the internet that you might not normally meet.

I believe there is debate as to whether or not it should be classified within the autism spectrum. In other news: Meh. It's one of the most common self-diagnosed diseases on the internet (srsly).
