hi, i decided that while the weathers cold and the bike isnt getting used i would take it to bits and service it. it wont let me pist pics as it says their too big?

first i removed the seats so i could take the tank off, then i removed the side fairings. i also removed the battery to put it on charge.
when i removed the tank i found that the pipe that connects the fuel tap to the fuel filter (about 3'' long) has a hole in it so that will need replacing.

i was going to remove the air box but decided to wait until i get the parts to finish the job first.

im going to change the spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter mabe, oil and oil filter, grease and lube stuff up and give it a good clean ready for the nice weather. also i think im gunna remove my restrictors from the carbs while its already in bits.

if anyone has anything else that i could do or advice, as iv never took a bike apart before, then feel free to chip in.....

If your going to the effort to change the plugs Id be tempted to balance the carbs and check/adjust the valve clearances whilst its in bits - depends how 'handy' you are though?

Thumbs Up

You won't have to take your carbs off to change the plugs, but you will have to remove them to take out your restrictors (if they are the washer type restrictors)

managed to get the plugs all changed today. was a git getting the caps off and there was only a couple of mm gap before the frame on the left one.
will be having a crack at the restrictors in the carbs tomorrow (hangover permitting)

i managed to get the restrictors out last weekend, it wasnt as hard as id thought.
once id found the 4 tiny screws that hold the carbs in the manifold i just poped the carbs out of the manifold and got a mate to pull the washers out while i held the carbs.
then i just had to push the carbs back onto the manifolds and tighten the 4 screws up.
easy peasy, and i cant believe the size of the restrictors they are tiny, what a rip off they are.

i took the bike out for a little spin to make sure it was all working and once it was warm i dropped the oil and replaced the filter while i was at it.
i have just ordered a air filter as i couldnt get one from any local shops, and im after a tinted db screen and a carbon art can on ebay. once these are on i will put up some pics of the whole job.

Copy and paste the img code (bottom of the 4 options) and it saves people having to click links to see the pics Thumbs Up
