How is it better?

A robin hood tax would be taking from the rich and giving to the poor. Taking from banks is taking from the rich (of course they'll just pass the cost onto the public so the only people it won't make any difference to the bankers and their bonuses) but if then giving the money to climate change research and all that crap then that's a complete waste and it's definitely not giving it to the poor.
