Just a quickie. My girlfriend has just been told at work that she (and the other ~15 employees) must book their holiday off for the rest of the year within the next week, otherwise it will be booked for them.

Now i completely disagree with this as does she, but as everyone else is following suit she thinks she must.

The minimum notice of leave to be given to employer is to be at least twice the period of leave requested to be taken. An employer has the right to refuse permission to take leave, especially where other staff may have requested the same period of leave.

Permission must be sought from the employer prior to confirming holiday bookings as the holiday request may not be granted (see above item)

I have no knowledge of contract laws, but i don't see how they can adjust everyone's at a drop of a hat.

Any views welcome, plus legal reference will be appreciated

Shes not part of one (yet) and a highly doubt anyone shes employed with is, unfortunately.

Think a new nursery might be in order, they are taking the piss:

You have the pay for you uniform £8 t shirt £20 jumper

She wont get minimum wage at 22, as apparently studying at the next level is starting your apprenticeship again, even though shes already been employed for a year. (you can get minimum wage after 12months employment)
