was goin through enfield along the a10 and was kinda racing a black gsxr and didnt see a speed camera until the last minute, tried to slow right down and i probably went through it at about 60mph, the guy on the gsxr said that it flashed but that i didnt go through the white lines there for the camera (i was in the middle of the road) so i wont get caught, is this right?
also, if i did get caught am i going to get totally raped? 60mph in a 40

Was it a fixed camera? i was caught by a mobile police van (everywhere where i live at the moment) doing 51 in a 30. i thought i was let off cos they only had footage of the front but wrote my plate down once i passed. i ended up going to court 6 points £150 fine!

I thought the white lines were just a secondary check, a physical confirmation of the distance traveled?

If it flashed then you are just going to have to wait. Minimum is going to be 3 points and £60.

i saw something somewhere.

2 photos are taken, and each line you cross between the photos equates to 5mph.
theres some office tarts that process them.

marki. minimum is going to be a speed awareness course.
mummy solicitors boyfriend got caught speeding, got sent the offer of 3 points and a £60 fine.

paid the fine, but then sent a letter saying ''it was a one off... unfamiliar roads... very clear conditions''

they refunded him the £60, no points, and let him book himself on a speed awareness course.

I've been flashed numerous times and never got a ticket from it but most were between 5 years and 10 years ago when I was a little less sensible. Not sure if the situation has changed but back then (and in Scotland this was) many of the cameras flashed but didn't bust you.

Did it get you from the front or from behind?

Were you hard on the brakes? When GATSO first came out they said that if the speed varies by more than 2mph whilst you're in the beam it will automatically cancel taking a pic.

Saying you thought it was a 60 could make things worse. Not reading speed limit signs could be construed as driving without due care and attention. Might as well say 'I was racing gixxer' and be done with it?

You have to be served with a NIP within 14 days. If you get nothing in the next 2 weeks, you're probably in the clear.

I just got my NIP through on Friday, 61 in a 30 Sad

I'd rather get banned for a few months than have my license revoked and have to re-take everything again (in 2 year probation period). Fuck knows but I'm pleading not guilty and having a solicitor try and get me off. Not just gonna roll over and get spanked.

Ok so the Gatso got you but not the Gixxer, meaning you were in front and winning the race on a leaner legal bike...

Good job Thumbs Up

or why not look for speed cameras? and stop speeding?

caught with a flip up plate, and a few points will be the least of your worries. You'd get rodgered with perverting the course of justice.

Thought of making a flip up plate a couple of times before, should be easy enough to put a hinge at the top of the plate and some sort of bicycle brake line or something similar attached to it to pull the plate up Thinking I will do it one day Laughing

not speeding simply isnt an option Razz and i do look out for cameras but it just takes one missed one and youre done. i dont plan to use it, but if im speeding way way over the limit and see a camera when its too late, i can flip the plate and not loose my liscence

id rather have one on there and never even use it once than go flying along at 80 and spot a camera when its too late.

TBH if you plan on speeding way over the limit and cannot see a bright yellow camera AND a camera warning sign before it then I doubt you will be riding long enough to try out a flip up Karma

You are a learner. Learn some observation skills to get out of a situation before it develops, not look for a get out after it has happened.

A flip up plate won't help you when a car pulls out a junction Rolling Eyes

Also, if you get pulled for something else and the officer pokes around your bike and finds you have one, I believe you can get in serious trouble for that?

Well not everyone knows how to make one, may sound simple but for allot of people, they will just pay it.

I don't know much about stuff like that and it may appear to be a simple device to some people who do but everyone has different skills, same way someone else might not be able to code a webpage, which is simple to me but not to someone else.

right, very serious. they will try stick you with perverting the course of justice. I read recently that they did get a bloke on this, jailed him i think (he was well over the speed limit too, over 100mph)

"if you cannot see a bright yellow camera AND a camera warning sign"

so by this logic no one should ever get caught speeding? people do though mate, also i rekon i could hide a flip up pretty well
