My mate rides an R6 on a 58 plate. Bought from new, dealer serviced at correct intervals, has done 15k miles. Recently the yellow engine warning light has been coming on intermittantly when riding. The manual doesn't give much help, and I have checked the oil. Coolant seems OK, bike is not overheating.

I think a trip to the dealer is required, with it still being under warranty, but first, is there anything simple it could be that we could check?

thanks

I'd ring the dealer first just incase they say not to ride it. I'm sure it would be fine to ride but you don't want to give the wriggling room on the warranty.

Don't bugger about with it or give the dealer any excuse to get out of the warranty. Thumbs Up

Suspect exhaust valve seizure/EXUP servo failure myself (listen for a whir and see the cables moving when you flick the ignition on.)

As said, just give it to the dealer if it's under warrenty.

Spot on sir. When he - eventually - took it to the dealer after the intermittant warning light became permanent, it was indeed the EXUP that was to blame.
