No, you need to do a CBT again cos they're only valid for 2 years.

WHAT IS CBT?
CBT can only be given by Approved Training Bodies (ABT’s) who have been assessed by DSA on sites approved by DSA for off-road training.

CBT allows Theory, skills which will make you safe on the road and the correct attitude towards motorcycling to be taught in a safe environment

EXCLUSIONS
• Have a full moped licence passed after 1/12/90
• Already hold a valid CBT (DL196) obtained during previous biking entitlement or when riding a moped
• Hold a full motorcycle licence for one category and wish to upgrade to another
• Live and ride on specified islands

Certificate of Completion (DL196) – Given after completion of course and will detail whether CBT taken on moped or motorcycle-sidecar combination or moped with 2+ wheels. As from 1/2/01, a CBT will be valid for 2 years. Certificates validating full moped entitlement on full car licence will remain valid for life of licence

THE CBT COURSE
A series of elements taken in order and will progress when instructor satisfied you have learnt necessary theory and have demonstrated practical skills to a safe basic level and MUST be taken in order. Elements are:
• Introduction
• Practical on-site training
• Practical on-site riding
• Practical on-road training
• Practical on-road riding

INSTRUCTOR-TO-TRAINEE RATIOS
• 4:1 during on-site elements
• 2:1 during on-road elements
• 2:1 Direct Access for both on and off-road training

APPROVED TRAINING BODIES – Every ABT must have at least 1 Cardingham Assessed Instructor

• DSA Assessed Certified Instructors – Approved by DSA (ABT = Approved Training Body) and can provide training and can issue DL196 Certificates and Downtrain other instructors within ABT
• Down-Trained Certified Instructors – Can provide training and can issue DL196 Certificates (Trained by qualified Cardingham Assessed Instructor)
• Assistant Instructors - Can deliver off-road training but not on-road or issue of DL196
• Direct Access Supervision – Further qualification by DSA giving authority to give Direct Access Supervision.
Instructor will have letter ‘C’ meaning Cardingham Assessed Instructor, ‘D’ meaning Direct Access Instructor or both on their Certificate.

CLOTHING
During CBT
• Must wear visibility aid provided by ABT

I rang a training centre today and have booked my CBT for next week. Should be a nice day out Very Happy . I was getting confused because I thought it meant I could drive anything upto a 125 because I passed my car test before 01, but its only mopeds.
