Hi can anyone tell me what size jet goes in the correct place in the carbs Confused . I have stripped them and not sure what one goes where. Also on running the bike pops in the exhaust and revs poorly low down with out choke but res ok over 6000rpm. I cleaned the carbs for the second time and want to make sure its right. Aso could it be the cdi box thks.

Not off the top of my head. Have a look on here www.nielsens.com on line parts fiche in the states, late 70's early 80's CB400 carb basically the same and ought to give a good guide. I would say you need to get the carbs properly ultrasonically cleaned though. It's always our advice, when fuel dries in those little drillings in the carbs it's almost impossible to clean out without resorting to that. Especially cvs like those. Good luck to you.

Ive never had trouble cleaning carbs manually. Remove all the jets and soak them in some solvent. Paint thinner is good as it gets rid of carb varnish, also give all the other metal bits a good spray through with brake cleaner.

If the bike doesnt run well after that its probably not dirt in the carbies causing the problem.

Check your airbox and all the rubber inlets for cracks and propper fitting. Remove and clean all the plugs and inspect the wiring, coils and HT leads/caps.

Got bike running sweet 2nite changed the carbs and cleaned them. I think the problem was on the old carbs that the slow running jets which you cant remove on the 250cc model. I only used fuse wire carefully to remove soft rubbish in jets . I still think ultrasonic is the way to go as I have about 4 sets of carbs to clean thks for your help Very Happy .
