Hi,

I may have just had a "mishap" with one of these cameras. There are distance markers on the road to suggest they are speed cameras but I was under the impression that they are ALSO red light cameras as they are positioned on traffic light controlled junctions...

It is the "red light" function of these things that concerns me. Anyone know if they are indeed speed and/or red light cameras...

Cheers Thumbs Up .

I thought they were just red light cameras.

Tis just a red light camera. I spent 6 months off the road courtesy of one.

No mention was made of my speed in court, if it could detect speed they would of mentioned the speed I was doing I'm sure Laughing (although there were no road markings in my case) .

That looks like a digital speed camera to me. (They don't run out of film and have a broadband link of sorts)

It's rear facing (so gets bikes).

It's exactly like the ones at Devil's Bridge where lots of us Northern Lot (& Scottish) go to.

There's no traffic lights there also.

The camera in question is a Speedcurb

Thanks all, it seems that the speedcurb is a digital speed camera that can also be fitted with a red light camera module...

Looks like a speed camera to me. They have started putting them on traffic-light junctions I have noticed. There's one on the wide junction where you come from Bracknell to join the M3 that I set off last year. Luckily I got nothing through from it.

Passed one of these yesterday in Glasgow city centre.

There are lines marking the road right across the solid white line that you are meant to stop at.

Good (or bad) idea - depending on how you look at it. Might catch a lot of people speeding up to beat the red light.

^^^ The camera is on Great Western Road and for anyone who knows the area, there are traffic lights every 50 yards or so on that road, and every set is always on RED !!!

Im not the only one waiting to see if i have had a mishap with one of these then? I went over on an orange and when i was in the middle of the junction the light went red so im paranoid it will have snapped me.

There's one of these on the A312 heading towards Heathrow near the M4 junction. Although it faces forwards (as to catch the front plate) and about 50 metres away is another set up as a red light camera on a junction, which I've seen go off.

Two at the end of my street. Neutral.

One on the left side of the road, one on the right.

They use piezoelectric sensors though, no markers, have seen them catch some people. No traffic lights also.

Do they flash then?

The ones at the bottom of my street flash 3 times.

Hmm, I think I was nabbed by it earlier but I didn't see any flashes... I might be lucky but I somehow doubt I will be.

There's one in Stockport Centre. It is a speed camera and traffic light camera.

There's also plenty at the bottom of Chappletown Road in Leeds at the lights of the big main junctions. I've seen them get lots of people, even those that stray over the line.

I've seen the red light one flash lots of times. It's caught people trying to get through ambers and it also goes off by accident when people on the opposite side of the road turn right at the junction.

The forward facing 'speed' one however has never gone off. I've been through it slightly faster and faster to see if it will. Seeing as it's forward facing it wont get my plate anyway. I've managed to go through it at 47 with no flash/nip in the post.
