I did that on one of my old GPZ500s. Fitted a nice flick-switch on the fairing in place of the ignition switch.
Thinking about it. I also did this on my old CB125, mounted the switch in the top of the headlamp shell.
Just be aware that on most bikes these days, the switch doesn't just do one thing. It usually makes one circuit and breaks another in each position. As such, a simple on-off switch wont do the job. You'll need a six termainal switch.

I did that on an old MG I had.
I dropped it off at a mates for some paintwork doing, they struggled all day to figure out how to start it.
switch was on the dash but looked like the switch for the interior map light.
he cursed me when i went to collect it

yep do it, ive just done it to my 125.. tit lost the keys
only problem i had was petrol cap...but my gs500 key fits it  |
