Currently in Chamonix

Realised on the 2nd day of the trip that rome was too far and would cost far too much in petrol and decided to stop here and ride around the alps and im rather glad, they are fantastic roads and chamonix seems like q really nice place thus far, we are staying here for a couple of nights and head back for the return leg of the trip on saturday. - these french keyboards are a nightmare!

I like Chamonix a lot, they seem very fond of British visitors.
It's worth taking the cable car up Aiguille du midi if weather is half decent.
Even though it's pricey you'll never forget it.
You can park bike right at the bottom station.

What is the depth of snow like on the high passes ?

Be over in the Alps in a couple of weeks, and good to get a heads up if there are still high snows as to what gear to bring for camping at altitude

Well we went up St Bernards pass on the col st bernard road rather than the tunnel and turned back halfway as petrol was iffy and we didnt know how far the road went until civilization again it was also pissing with rain and freezing. No snow on roads but there is a fair bit high in the mountains.
Anyone recommend any routes to take back, we are thinking of moving on from chamonix as weather predictions are rain for rest of the week.
