Tonight's was a 'piffling' prize of just over £1.5 million. To make matters worse, seven people won it, getting just over £200,000 each.
So the question is, if you won the jackpot and went running with mad excitement to see how much you won...oh, it's only £1.5 mill, WTF...oh well, that'll do...hang on...SEVEN WINNERS?! Just over £200k each? On a JACKPOT???!!!
...would you be pissed off? ____________________ "There's the horizon! Ride hard, ride fast and cut down all who stand in your way!" |

Some sets of numbers are more popularly used (1-31 for instance as people choose birthdays), so would likely prodce more winners. They don't actually provide better odds of getting a jackpot just increase the number it's shared between so if you want a higher payout stay away from those combinations. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

yes I would be pissed off!
this is one of the benefits of a late 'lucky dip'. I was told that the LD is selected from the remaining numbers only . . . so I get LD when I do the lottery, as the chances of a massively split pot is minimised ____________________ The purpose of life is to fight maturity. |

Mixed emotions, most likely. More so, when I went on the 'net and checked what the average jackpot wins were since it began! |

A couple of months ago I was waiting for a friend to arrive so that we could head on down to this gig we had tickets for. He was taking the piss getting there so I phoned him up and asked him why it was taking him so long to drag his ass, he said mate I got a good reason just found out I got 5 numbers on the lottery. I asked him how much he'd won and he said he was in the process of finding out.
When he turned up at my house he wasn't looking too happy for someone who'd just got 5 numbers. Turns out he won about £5000, which as we both said was better than a kick in the balls, and it paid off some debts, bills and loans he had, so was a good result at the end of the day, but still, to think that one more number and he would have been a millionaire, you'd imagine the next step down would at least bag you £100k or something.
Rarely play it to be honest though I keep meaning to set it up online, I think the last time I went to do it for the euromillions it sent me through to the government website and started asking all sorts of shit about passport numbers and shit, so I thought fuck this - what the fuck is that all about? I don't get the third degree when I pop in the newsagents??

A freind of mine got four numbers too and they they came out in order, when the fifth ball didn't match he said he was a bit gutted.
I agree though, the difference between five and six numbers is vast and seems unfair. Especially with Euromillions, having £100 million is nice I suppose, but I'd much rather see ten people with £10 million to be honest (and one of them be me.)
The chap who sits next to me won £86k not so long ago, easy to grudge him it since he's a jammy bastard anyway.
On the £200k, I take the view that you started with nothing so anything is a bonus. I'd be miffed for a second but thats all, you can't lose what you never had in the first place.

You'd go in the pub buy everyround of drinks and get accused of being a flash twat... Or you go in and only buy drinks when it's your round and be called an tight git. Not to mention the guilt from being so much richer than everyone else you know, and knowing that they know it too! |
The people I associate with are pretty grounded, so I doubt it'd be much of an issue. The odd person, maybe, but if that's the case it's not my issue. You can't run other people's lives for them.
My close friends are my close friends. We've been through enough stuff where we could judge each other all day long if so inclined. Who gets a round in at the pub won't make much difference. I'd certainly be wary of "new acquiatences", but that's a different issue and I'd be happy enough in relative social exclusion. As I said, I have enough real mates.

Ah, you lack imagination I doubt I'd be in the UK for more than one week a month. I'd certainly have my own business interests though, as a way of maintaining external focus on a day to day basis. |

Would you tell anyone if you won big though?
I know I wouldn't. I'd just lie through my teeth, tell people I got a better job (lets me set my own hours) Consultancy can cover a multitude of activities...
As for begging relatives, they can fuck right off, its not my fault I won the money and having it doesn't all of a sudden make me responsible for them financially. That said, i'd sort my parents out (my brother can piss off) but I'd do at second or third hand through a trust of some sort.
I'd use the same method to help friends and/or organisations as I saw fit.

I have pondered as to whether I would inform anyone. Depends exactly how much it is. If it was £1.5 million, then I'd probably keep it largely schtum, splash a bit of cash here and there and just attribute it to whatever I care to make up at the time.
If it was euromillions style £86 million, then I think I'd give a million each to close friends and family, and still have £76 million to play with, that way, we're all rich, can all quit our jobs, and spend the rest of our lifes doing whatever the hell we want wherever in the world. Even with extravagant purchases, that million should last them a while, but even so, I think you could go on for quite a while topping them up if they do find ways to spunk that much cash before getting to a point where you have to say "sorry dude, I've given you £5 million over the past few years, the chequebooks closed now". They can hardly grumble at that, and if they do, well, fuck 'em.

I wouldn't have a problem giving money to freinds, I picked them so quite like them. How ever, my family is another matter, its not a massive family and the extended crowd for the most part wouldn't ask anyway. ON the other hand my brother is an idle layabout and I'd really really grudge him the money.
That he'd have sat on his fat arse all of his life waiting for something to land in his lap when everyone else was telling nothing ever would and you had to work for it only for something to actually land on his lap courtesy of one of the people who said 'nothing will ever land on you lap, you have to work for it' sticks in ma' craw!
And breath out...
Since I grudge him the air he breathes if I ever won any money he'd be getting the thin end of fuck all. In fact I might flash it around just to piss him off.
