Hiya ppl,
Newish to the biker thing, no spring chicken, taking my test in August and absolutely bricking it.
Done my theory and been riding a 125 for almost a year, well just when it's nice so probably not very long Laughing

Is it difficult as I've heard some horror stories?, need to chill a bit me thinks......

i had a 125 for a year before doing my test a few weeks ago.

Mod 1 is probably the harder test, remember your checks, take your time & dont be nervous. If you've been riding for a year already then youve already had to do swerves/u-turns/emrgency stops in your everyday riding i'm sure

Mod 2 is easier but still has its tricky points. The main thing on this part of the test is to show your super confident on a bike. They wanna see you ride a bigger bike properly,so if you can overtake on a dual carriageway for example you need to, show you can filter traffic, get up to speed limits fast, be safe but dont hesitate at roundabouts and junctions. this really helped me pass.

Good luck Very Happy

Thanks Soph for the tips.
I feel a lot more confident on my bike and getting plenty of practice in lately.
The only problem is overtaking on my test as I'm doing the restricted test on my bike and you know what it's like on a 125.
Not sure I've done the right thing now but it's all booked Shocked

Hey your bike's a looker btw Very Happy

Hiya, passed my module 1 today and I'm an old git so it can be done. Just remember all observations and its well worth finding a training school that will take you inside the DSA test centre for a practice. 50kph doesnt sound fast but it feels like 100mph as you fly through the speedtrap and round those blue cones.

Got my mod 2 next Thursday.

Stu Very Happy

Hello,

Have you considered doing any pre-test training with a riding school at all to help prepare you? I can't speak for the current 2 part test but the training certainly helped me pass the original practical which looks similar to Mod 2. The DSA also publish books that can help a lot, just search Amazon for 'DSA motorcycle' to see what I mean. Those books were also very useful for me. Thumbs Up

Hey Jodie, im in a similar position to you really. Did my CBT in October and wanted to move onto something bigger so I have my DAS booked up for the end of next month. They are taking me out to the test centre for two days before my mod 1 to practise all the stuff that you get tested on using the school bike.

I think im more worried about mod 2! It took me three goes to pass my driving test because of the nerves!

ahhh didn't realise you were doing a restricted test. . . maybe no overtaking then, but stil show as much confidence as possible

I agree with the other guys, i had a lesson at the test centre so i could try the mod 1 circuit out - it was a massive help.

You'll be fine tho, loads of practise is the best way Very Happy

Good luck on your mod2 stuartadair Thumbs Up

Well done Stuart, that's fantastic news, wish I was in your position.
It's weird as we've been out on our bikes today and all I could think about was my test...

Sending good vibes for next Thursday.. Laughing

Hi Neil, well we've booked a full day training before each module,
we're doing the Sunday training then Mod 1 and Thur training and Mod 2 Friday so fingers crossed, hopefully it should be enough, we asked their advice there and they said it should be fine as we've been riding almost a year now.
We should hopefully get some good runs in too before August.

Hiys Waffles.

Well hopefully my nerves won't ruin the day too cos it took me 4 attempts at my driving test lol
. My knees used to knock together shaking it was terrible, even for my theory I was so nervous til I sat down and thought hey I know these, then I sailed through that.
I'll be crossing everything for you and the best of luck. Thumbs Up

Hiya Soph,

They have a circuit at the training centre we go to in Oxford, it looks scarey, blimey I was even confused doing those turns and figures of 8 in my CBT lol, especially as I didn't know how to ride, alll I wanted to do was stay on.
Bet you're relieved it's over reading these Laughing

For Mod 2, just think of it as a ride out with a friend, remember life savers, check your mirrors (both) often.

When stopped, keep your right leg up and cover the back brake, dont signal too early on roundabouts.

When turning left, check left shoulder, right check right.

When stopped in a queue, say upto a roundabout, and the cars move forward a bit, check both shoulders before moving off.

Very Happy hope some of this helps

I passed today Laughing

2 minor marks - At a busy jnc I was turning right. I couldnt find a safe gap in the cars and then the lights changed, leaving me slightly inside the junction. The examiner said that I should have gone.

I was following a bus which stopped on a left hand bend. A scooter was coming the other way so by passing the bus I would have caused him to move to the left so I stayed behind the bus. The examiner thought I could have moved past.

Anyway, a pass is a pass so thanks all for your advice.

I feel qualified to advise now I've passed my test Very Happy

I saw some kids on their CBT today whilst waiting for my test and the instructor was pulling his hair out because one kid turned up without a provisional and two turned up with only a helmet.
The best advice I can give is to make sure you wear the correct clothing, including trousers, boots, jacket, and gloves. If you cant afford the clothing then dont ride.

CBT is good fun, just relax and follow your instructor.

Hiya Jodie,

I've already got a ZZR400 just sat there waiting for me. Frustratingly I've got to wait for my insurance cover note to come through before I can goto the local DVLA office and register it as its a grey import.

Hopefully today.....
