How they are there, we have lots of pieces of the puzzle.
Why they are there...why is anything anywhere? you can keep asking why to everything with every answer just giving you another opertunity to ask 'why?'. Truth is that they are there, because they are there. If they weren't we wouldn't be able to question it |

That's exactly what i'm getting at. It's not lucky, but because we are the only living beings in the universe (as far as we know) it was a string of lucky events according to the 'Big Bang' which is why life on other planets would of had the same fortunate events, which i why i said "seems like more of a coincidence".
The food is there because we made it. It doesn't suddenly appear on a plate, which goes for everything. A near perfect planet doesn't suddenly appear from nothing.
It's astonishing just to think we're in the middle of nothing really. |
I think I know what you're getting at, but your argument is self-defeating. If there's life on other planets that just makes the appearance of life not that lucky.
The Big Bang itself doesn't say anything about whether life will appear. That's down to the fundamental properties of matter, the laws of physics. Where those come from is indeed a mystery I agree.
Why can't a near-perfect planet form? It already has (well not so perfect you could argue but that's a different matter). No-one claims it suddenly appeared from nothing, either. It took billions of years and rather a lot of dust. |

It wouldn't matter how many billions of years & dust particles it took, it would of still appeared from nothing.

Everything happens by coincidence.
It's a coincidence that this planet happens to be a perfect temperature to sustain life.
There is no god that will save us if our planet gets bumped out of line in orbit. Everything will die. (Depending on the size of the bump.)
There will be no saviour, no jesus.
I think some people forget that we are insignificant in the universe, we are measly a species trying to survive.
Everything happens for a reason, there are no random events, random circumstances. |
But aren't you forgetting that other life in the Universe would of had to of been a coincidence too? Millions of planets that all happen to be coincidences? That kinda makes the word redundant.
What makes Earth insignificant? The fact we're not even a blip in the Universe? I've thought like you on this before but it just seems too 'great' to be all for nothing. |

That's what I mean, some people think we are here for a reason.
But if there is, which I doubt there is, what is it?
We don't even know.
We fight amongst ourselves, prepared to kill each other, we destroy our only planet.
No other planet in our solar system is habitable, we haven't got the technology to go to new systems let alone transport people great distances in our own one.
Yeah it's a bleak out look, us being for here for no reason except coincidence, but unfortunately that's life.
If I die and god is there at the gates asking me why I never believed, I will put my hands up and take responsibility.

Pretty shitty when you put it like that, the destruction/killing we do on our only habitable planet (from what we know) is pretty depressing.
If we were being 'reviewed' what's the chances Earth would have the lowest rating ever.

Just because you want there to be a purpose doesn''t mean there is one. You can't make something real just by wishing it.
No-one knows what happened before the big bang, so no-one can say the universe came from nothing. |
I didn't say i wanted there to be a purpose? I said it seems like too big a coincidence. It's not about wishing or hoping it's about looking at it from all angles. |
