let us make Jesus happy and share some quotes from the bible in an attempt to make BCF a better place.

My thought for today is 2 Kings 18:27

May the lord be with you, rejoice.

Ezekiel 25:17:
'The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides with the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and with furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know that my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.'

Armaments, chapter two, verses nine through twenty-one.

Quote:
And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, "O Lord, bless this thy hand grenade, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the Lord did grin.

Ezekiel 23:19-20

"Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt. There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses."

Not actually 'strictly' correct, still a fantastic scene though.

Being a lover of roots music, i'm a big fan of biblical quotes:

Psalm 1:1 - Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
(Best version for this is 'Rightful Ruler by Peter Tosh and U-Roy)

Psalm 19:1-2 - The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night sheweth knowledge.

(This must be repeated in the style of the original voice of thunder Prince Far-I as chanted out in the killer tune 'Black Reggae Music')

Not wishing to de-rail the thread too much, i'll add my own personal non-muiscal quote:

Proverbs 10:1: A wise son maketh the father glad: but a foolish son is the sorrow of his mother.

Thats not all the verses Wink

Quote:

“...And Saint Attila raised the hand grenade up on high, saying, "O Lord, bless this Thy hand grenade that with it Thou mayest blow Thine enemies to tiny bits, in Thy mercy." And the Lord did grin and the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths and carp and anchovies and orangutans and breakfast cereals, and fruit bats and large chu... [At this point, the friar is urged by Brother Maynard to "skip a bit, brother"]... And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it." Amen.

I have a few religious quotes that I like.

Deuteronomy 25:11.

"When men fight with one another, and the wife of one draws near to rescue her husband from the hand of him who is beating him, and puts out her hand and seizes him by the private parts, then you shall cut off her hand; your eye shall have no pity."

Luke 14:26

"If any one comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple."

Matthew 15:10-11

"And he called the people to him and said to them, "Hear and understand: not what goes into the mouth defiles a man, but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man."

I might read the whole Bible one day, I have read a lot of it because of my upbringing but only the bits that people wanted me to read. There are alot of controversial passages in the Bible, it's a good read lol.

I tries to read the bible once, and the qu'ran, but rapidly found both to be boring and read like nonsense. I used to go to chruch when I was a kid and during the boring sermons used to open up to Revelations and have a good read, as it was the only interesting bit.

I'd have to be in prison or something to warrant bothering to try to read holy scripture again.

Guess he had a tasty zorst, then.

I'm not sure what my favourite verse is, but there's a lot of decent stuff in there, as with most holy books. The Bhagavad Gita's worth a look at some point.
Wouldn't mind reading more collected Zen Koans, at some point, too.

It's amazing what a slight change in intonation can do to a sentence, isn't it? Laughing

Say it like you'd imagine Jesus might, and it's fantastically compassionate. Say it like Robby would, and, well, it'll give social services the fear. Or possibly the horn, if you live in Haringay.

It was wilfully misquoted for precisely that comedic effect, I believe the original (Luke iirc) says "to come unto me" rather than "that come" Wink
