Hi guys, need to change the rear brake disc. First time changing a brake disc.

Can you please suggest something good?

What are the brands to go for and the one to avoid?

Should I stick with honda disk?

Please enlighten me. Thanks Thumbs Up

the write ups are generally good on these discs:

www.stealthproducts.co.uk

i personally haven't tried them but from what i have heard they are pretty good.

basically all anyone on here will say is aviod chineese crap. so avoid Smile.

apart from that its up to personal prefernce Smile.

check ebay, yo ucan sometimes pick up a used disc thats practically new for hardly anything.

hope that helps

I would definitely go OEM. Aftermarket stuff can sometimes look out of place, and tbh I think original looks best.

David Silvers sells mostly genuine Honda parts, and anything that isn't will be marked as such on the website. That one you linked to is a genuine Honda part, which is what I personally would buy.

The original discs with gold carriers looked so much better on my CBR than these EBC discs do Sad

EDIT:
Just something else you should know; New brake discs will likely be coated in a thin film of oily residue, that stops them rusting whilst packaged / stored. Give them a good blasting with a can of brake cleaner before fitting them. Try to avoid getting oiling hands when taking them out the packaging, else you'll just put your oily hands on the clean discs again when fitting them.

Thumbs Up

Thanks for the answer Thumbs Up

will probably go for the one in David Silvers website, should be good enough for my riding anyway and if it's Honda should be good as well.
Would love to get one with gold carriers, where can I find it?

Thanks again.

Dunno, the OEM discs for my bike have gold carriers Smile The EBCs I've go fitted are just grey though, they don't look anywhere near as pimp. Sad

The guy that fitted padas and bled and cleaned my brake system said EBC do great pads but their discs are not so good.
Whats your view on that? Just trying to learn here and get different opinions, i'm noob! Embarassed
Why did you fit EBC discs and not OEM?

Well, I didn't really specify, I just asked a garage to fit me new pads and discs, and that's what I got... On the plus side, EBC are a little cheaper than OEM.

Lots of people think they are great, but tbh, I don't like them. They look a bit naff, and I much prefer using standard Nissin pads. My discs are very slightly warped, and did that within the first 500 miles. The rear brakes pads only lasted a few thousand miles too.

They're not neccesarily bad, it's just that people hype them up to be great, when infact their only merit is they are "cheap".
