Hey,

I have had problems with my DNA but can't find whats up with it?
My temperature display reads normal then goes to 100-120oC after about 5mins?
I've spent lots of time today looking at it, filled coolant tank went out for a while, temp was 120 but it wasn't over-flowing or anything like that?
Confused Anyone know what could be up with it and how I could fix it???

Many Thanks
Mark

check the thermistor theat goes into the cylinder head, look for a dodgy connection.

I'd be inclined to say it's a false reading as well, because my DNA takes about 15 mins steady riding to get up to 60o . Look for a dodgey connection either under the speedo or on the thermistor as Lee said

the thermometer blows on them quite easy, you can check to see if it's blocked by undoing the cap and see if its getting pumped back round.

If the thermostat is naffed no coolant will be getting into the cylinder which would explain your problem so check that.

NEVERMIND! 50's are different Embarassed

My 125's cooling system went tits up recently.

Just by your right leg there is the thermostat. The top half of it is black with a big tube coming out the top. Get a hammer with a bit of wood on the thermostat and give it a light but authroative tap. Chances are that might be stuck.

On the same side a little lower and further back is a grey metal engine casing with two tubes. This is basically your pump.

To drain the system get a bucket and drain the bottom tube. Now remove that plastic side with the two tubes and start the bike up. If the little fan (called imi-something) spins up, your fine, put it all back together. If not, remove the casing. Inside there is a bakelite flywheel type thing. If you can turn that and the fan thing turns, the motor has probably gone.

If you really want to know if it's a faulty reading, go out and get it to flashing point on the dash then put your hand on the radiator. If it's hot, its fine, if not you have a problem.

Open up the false tank and open up the coolant (when its cool! That shit gets hot and pressure spurts it out when it's hot) and then start the bike. If it's circulating properly, you should see a little jet of coolant.

Thats all i can suggest from my experience of my 125. I hope it's the same kind of system. I'll look into it now but it shouldn't be that different really. Other than this it's more than likely shitty Italian electrics. Then just run the hell away!
