I've got the opportunity of taking part in a Track Day at the aforementioned circuit (www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk if anyone fancies a look)

I'd be interested to gauge opinions from people who have experienced it or know of people that have as to whether it's a decent/challenging circuit to ride or not as I've heard adverse opinion form a few mates that it is rather bumpy and more of a car orientated track.

I know some of you racier Guys 'n Gals on the site have been on more tracks than a Brolly Dolly with her own Parasol and hotpants so any comments would be gratefully received.

Cheers Thumbs Up

I went on it last summer, and found that it was a good learning track, and yet challenging enough for the more experienced rider. I was riding a 1 week old CBR600RR with untouched suspension settings, and didn't notice anything particularly "wrong" with the track surface (although there was one section with a patch of cement dust on it Rolling Eyes)...but then again, I have no other track experience to compare it against.

It is mainly right-oriented, with some long sweeping bends and tight corners, although there are also two nice chicanes to tackle. There's not a whole lot of run-off, except for the big field in the middle, but it seemed pretty well organised.

The only thing that I can criticise about the experience itself is the relatively limited track time - there are usually 6 groups, and each group spends only 15 or so minutes out on the track...this equates to about 6 laps per session.

Did my first trackday there many moons ago...

...look out for the bump just as you join the start/finish straight from the last corner...pops the front wheel up...

...also it's essential you take your standard can they are really hot on noise there due to some old resident living down by the bottom of the circuit...

...what do you expect if you live by a race circuit FFS.. Confused

it's not a bad track, a bit on the flat side...but it's no Cadwell by a long shot !!!!
