I just got my bike insured yesterday, MOTed today and trying to now get it taxed.

Went into post office with an email from swinton that was my "policy confirmation", but they said I need "certificate of motor insurance", checked my emails and I don't have this. So tried to tax it online and I get so far and it says "sorry, there's been a technical error".

What can I do? I need it taxed today as I have work later

just tried to do it over the phone and it's not recognising my insurance...

I've definitely paid the insurance yesterday though...but I wasn't emailed either a temp' cover note or a certificate...

Call the insurance company? I'm sure some departments are open on the weekends.

There is delay in them updating the database but I would have thought you would have received an email (if you have requested for your documents to be sent by email of course...) so I would call them up.
If you didn't ask for your documents to be sent by email then many insurance companies...won't. So that might be your issue.

Well technically you are insured which is the main thing but if you get stopped for no tax they won't believe you.

Your chance to take, hardly worth it unless it's life or death.

I'll carry the policy confirmation with me and all my documents. It's not life or death, but it is for my job.

cheers

Just applied online once again but this time the error it gave was "insurance could not be found" and told me not to apply again for 24 hours. I've printed this off in case I get pulled over, it may help them beleive me.

End of the day, I have all the documents to tax it, I have the money in my wallet to tax it, it's their rubbish systems that aren't allowing me to tax it...

I need to get to work, I've tried and tried to tax it, even if I tax it now, it doesn't start until 1st so they're not losing any money if I do it now or monday.

meh, cheers

If you tax it from the 1st of September then you are NOT taxed to use it today, and they would likely do you for it. To use it today you need it taxed from 1st August (not sure when the cut off is for doing that in the post office).

By the way, technically you are not insured. Your insurance isn't valid under the road traffic act until the certificate has been delivered.

All the best

Keith
