You can't 'derestrict' it as such, since it's not restricted. It's a four-stroke engine, and they don't really restrict them, because they don't produce enough power to need it. If you do get a replacement CDI for it, it'll only make it rev a bit harder, really - there's not an extra couple of hp waiting to be released, or anything.

Sorry to disappoint.

thanks for your help guys.

i know it being four stroke it vibrates like a washing machine without the breeze block in.
is there anyway to reduce this problem?

+ ive been told changing the sprockets will increase my power out put by at least 10mph.
being a 125cc, is this fact or just a myth and waste of money and time?

Not really. Any single will vibrate and you get around that using heavier flywheels, balance shafts, etc. Nothing that can easily be added after market. However there are things that go wrong that would make vibration worse, from over advanced ignition (likely to wreck a piston rapidly though), big end bearing on the way out, down to a lose engine mounting bolt.

Changing the gearing will not affect power, but might affect top speed.

Bit more detail. The important thing is torque at the back wheel, and power is just torque x rpm. Torque at the back wheel is torque x gearing. If you use a smaller rear sprocket you get higher gearing which slightly reduces rear wheel torque. However torque tends to fall off long before peak power and probably quite rapidly after peak power, hence while you have lost a bit of torque from the gearing you might gain a bit by being at slightly lower revs.

All the best

Keith

If your engine is based on a Honda Cg125 unit then there are 150cc coversion kits available on Ebay but dont expect the engine to last very long after the conversion as they are already at their maximum reliable state of tune, camshafts are available or can be modified to increase output but again the bike will suffer in reliability. You must have passed your test before converting to 150cc.

Thats the same as a bike i used to see every day, except the one i saw was always parked outside and was bright orange with rust. The finish on the metal parts isn't great, so spraying a little WD40 / Grease / oil on the metal parts now and then throughout the winter would be a good idea Thumbs Up

I did a google search on the model & It chucked up a pic of a dirt-bike! that, though looks more like Snow-Tigeress's old AJS Raptor, but with single pot motor.
https://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w269/teflons-torque/Little%20Dreams/100_0067.jpg
If you do some Research into Regal BSA, after the colapse of the BSA Empire in 1972, when they stopped manufacturing bikes, all the brand-names they owned, along with a load of others they aquired from the Norton, Villiers, Triumph group, when they finally succombed, were bought by a holdings company called 'Regal'.
for a while, they marketed bikes built by other people, with Yamaha engines, but some of thier old names.
One was a dirt bike with a DT175 engine badged as a BSA Tracker, another was a BSA 'something-star' using a Yamaha XT500 engine.
Seems that they were one of the early pioneers of chinky imports, setting up the partnerships to build bikes with licence built engines, to Regal provided designs, and then importing them to sell under one of the Regal owned 'British' marques.

Anyway, the bike wont be restricted, it'll just be slow!

That Raptor of the snow-tigeress's did 55 flast out, no change of gearing or messing with carbs or ignition or anything would convince it otherwise.

And that had a licence made copy of the CB125T engine in it, which in its natural home had enough gumption to ptopell itself to nearly 80mph..... gibes you an idea of how much down on go the chinese copies are, dont it!

CG and YBR single motors weren't as pokey as the CB rtwin when made in Japan; Hauling a lighter bike along, they toped out at about 60-65.

So at a guess, anything over 50 is likely to be good going for that one of yours, and it REALLY would cost more than the bikes worth to try and do anything to improve its prospects.

With The Raptor, I concluded that short of stripping the motor down and rebuilding it with a lot of tuning goodies and Japanese components, there wasn't anything to be done, and doing that was a waste of time effort and money.

If it hadn't been nicked (Twockers wheeled it away.... probably the fastest they ever went on it!) & Snow had passed her test, I had the idea, as we couldn't get any-one mug enough to buy the thing, to chuck another engine in it.

Had the notion that an old VFR400 lump would make an interesting mini-V-Max kind of thing!

Probably just as well it got nicked TBH!

thanks Teflon-Mike for the advice,
you've stopped me in my tracks before i wasted money buying stuff than i just didn't need.
it does 55mph flat out which I suppose will be OK until I get something a bit bigger.

+ the pic is of the bike after it had being stolen and restored.
