Hey guys,
finally managed to reassemble my DNA (only 6 screws leftover...not too bad Razz) after taking off all the panels (previously horrible yellow), and spraying them metallic red, I'm quite pleased with the results! Smile bear in mind this bike was bought second hand in shite condition (2001 model). Thoughts...opinions...comments...flames?
Very Happy Si

Looks good mate, very hard to do just using a spray can.

I have found that halfords paint gives pretty good coverage, I also bought some different nozzles which improve it some more. Don't get that holts paint, rubbish! Those panels are quite small, so that helps, if you did a whole car with spray cans it would be pretty patchy.

Good work and a pretty nice colour Smile

Nice one - that burgandy does look good. If you take your time, prep well and spray in the right conditions it can work well.

Am in the process of respraying my bike at the moment with Halfords paint and I have to agree, the results at the moment look very good, but I have only done the smaller bits, will be interesting to see what the bigger panels end up like.

Yes.......It looks very nice , spray can paint don't have much hardner in it , but if you let it cure good before you let any gas hit it, it works well , OR..........put some good hard clear over it like you did , I Love the Color , and yes I think Flames would only add to the finish. Great Job !

Won't do anything for it, rattle can paint remains *soluble* forever. Petrol will just turn the clear yellow anyway. It;s a totally different kind of paint to Iso Cyanate based 2 pack etc
Laquer based paint dries harder than a wedding dick & you can get a great looking finish, but it's not very durable so the finish is good for about maybe a year.Smile

VERY nice finish matey! Cool Wink
At least I know where to go if I have a tumble off my CBR!! LOL

But, as already suggested by others, I'd still be curious about how durable the finish is??
