Did the southern route and the long route - Despite my minor indiscretion, I still had a good day - It was full of excitement ...

Things started well early on with a dog walking woman waving her arms frantically (I had seen her and was slowing anyway) ... when I drew closer, she started ranting, so I stopped completely (only doing <5mph by the time I got to her anyway) after she finished her initial rant saying I needed to slow down as she had dogs - I responded with "Look, I have stopped completely, how much f-king slower can I go?!!?" Very Happy

About another 30 miles into the ride we had Mr Walking stick who gave the guy I was riding with a beasting (well beasting is a bit of an exaggeration, but he did prod him with his walking stick! Shocked

Then I had a stone flick up at me and smash my headlight ... (these things happen).

So lots of miserable walkers, some pain some damage to the bike ... Ahhhhh ... good times!! Smile

Yeah, normally get away with it, but deffo done myself a mischief this time Embarassed I went down with the full force on my shoulder (and twatted head/neck a bit). That and my pelvis took quite a hit ... really REALLY sore now, hobbling, arm in a sling and stuff but meh - its gonna take a week or two this one I think - but I'll be back!! Cool

Bike is just the normal kick it back into shape job - nothing serious there!! Thumbs Up

As long as the bike is 'on pipe' it has plenty of grunt, that and a nice tug on the bars gets the front up just enough to take the weight off Thumbs Up

no but slower than they are ... there just ouright ragging it.

People like this have closed down many greenlanes in south wales doe to the redsocks complaining. severeal TRO been passed to stop vehicles using the lanes. as for a brisk pace yeah ofcourse foot out powersliding around. so answer me what happens if over the brow of one of them blind corners a landrover comes to meet you or there is someone walking their dog?

as for potterign alogn at 5mph i am almost certain there is a law for most green lanes about numbers of people and speeds....

if you want to ride like idiots go to pay and play sites. yes your tax and mot and inshurance but your just hooning it not green laning.

Meh...

"Greenlaning Rules"

First and foremost : Greenlanes are NOT a Play Site!

They are there to be driven with care and consideration. If you want to tear about, up to your doors in mud, getting stuck and making loads of noise, then join your nearest off-road club and go to their off-road play-days at specially designed sites. These are well worth the small charge because you also know you're allowed to drive there and get as muddy as you like! No need to check definitive maps or plan a day's worth of driving, either! Green-laning is meant to be pleasant and relaxing, not thrill-a-minute."

No worries. At least the title says what's this topic is all about so people like me who are not interested in offroading don't bother to click those links to watch it.

The faster you go, the more there is for NIMBYs and ramblers to complain about. When enough complaints are made, TROs get put in place.

yes and you spoil the fun for every one...

also travelign at speed wrecks the roads... and then they get shut down as being unsfae etc. more and more get shut down every year ... soont here will be none. due to idiotic riding. keep it to private roads and tracks

edit :
to add to that Blue what woudl you have to say if i was to jump into the 4x4 racer and iw as coming the opposit way on full lock sideways aroudn a corner to meet you at 30-40+ mph? i bet you would have a rant at WTF was i doing... its all just stupid

No rules on numbers, since it's techincally a road and if there is a speed limit it would be 60, since there are no signs or lamp posts.

The TRF have an advisory limit for it's members of 20mph, but it's advisory, so meh frankly.

And people hoofing it down them is not the "main" reason why they get shut down. The ramblers complain if you're pootling along at 5mph anyway.

There are no rules about numbers but a maximum group size of 4 is normal. There's lots of info on the GLASS site, big groups are hassle and they also piss off other RoW users.

The main reason TROs get put in place is due to the number of complaints received by the local council. Given the amount of miserable walkers around, you can see where complaints might come from.

Yes of course, but these ramblers see the BOATs are "their's" and they should be open to motor vehicles regardless of how they are ridden. IMO how you ride makes very little difference to the likelihood of these people complaining.

Yes there is.
And the GLASS guidlines for using greenlanes are set out to help preserve and be able to use them for years to come instad of them being shut down from people acting stupidly on them.

Green-laning is meant to be pleasant and relaxing, not thrill-a-minute.
Drive slowly (max 12-15mph) - on off road terrain, things can get out of hand very quickly. Travel "as slow as possible, but as fast as necessary.

Well I thought I had done a mischief, but 'give it the night' to see if it was better in the morning ...

Well it wasn't ... Confused

Decided to go and get it X-Rayed as I know the tell-tale signs/feel of a broken collar bone by now (this is my 4th one Embarassed)

Anyway - here is the pic of the x-ray ...

The doctor pointed out where I now had chipped it and a re-fracture Crying or Very sad

So that means 6 weeks of no bike fun of any kind! and some uncomfortable nights - again - Thumbs Down
