Never had one before, never played one before.
I've still got an Xbox 360, but sold a load of old stuff on ebay including my blu-ray player and lots of DVD box sets (not bad in just over a week, I fully funded the 320gb version with the new camera and wii style wand).
Some questions though:
Can you charge the PS3 controller on the PC?
When I first turned the PS3 on, I thought I had a HDMI problem, it took about 20-30 seconds before anything appeared.
How do I update my firmware to the latest level. I've seen the feature, where the console can be scheduled to power on. But how do I just force it?
I've connected to the internet, but I have not joined the PS3 network, whatever its called.
What sort of energy consumption does the ps3 use, in standby mode. With my Wii/360/Xbox 1 I always turned it off at the mains.
I've only just played 1 game, but the graphics do look better than the 360.
The controller just feels sooooooo light compared to the 360 .
Any other advice on the PS3, i'd appreciate. I like the idea of not paying for multiplayer like on the Wii.
Thanks ____________________ I've a twin and a 4. |

Should be able to, although I've never tried.

Normal for this to happen. It usually requires you to optimise the video output, it will also do this if you plug it into another TV, or take the HDMI cable out of the ps3.

When a new update is released it will be detected by your ps3 and will put a screen up when you turn it on that an update is available.

No idea, sorry. It's pretty low compared to the 'fat' ps3's though.

- ps3 multiplayer is free so you don't have to worry about paying for it.
- if you do play a lot online, it may be worth investing in a decent headset, you can go for the official sony headset at £25 (most places) but there are issues with sound quality. Otherwise, it's just as easy to invest in one of these which are just as good imo click ____________________ Bike: Currently Bikeless... Gahh |

Yes Just plug it in
When I first turned the PS3 on, I thought I had a HDMI problem, it took about 20-30 seconds before anything appeared.
Nope that is is finding out what video settings to use, NB if you go back to a scart lead you need to do something to the ps3 so it can detect it.

Its on the menu screen the option on the furthest left then it is near the top.
I've connected to the internet, but I have not joined the PS3 network, whatever its called.
Have you created an account and signed in? try to go to the playstation store and see what happens
