Managed to highside coming off clearways at brands hatch on monday morning Shocked

I was running full wets and they just seemed to grip, grip and then without warning let go. All I really remember is seeing the back wheel on my left hand side followed by me being chucked over the thing. I hit the ground head first and then got hit in the chest by the bike. Rolling Eyes

I was out cold for what seemed like a second (but was later told I didnt move for at least 20 seconds) when I woke up and struggeled for breath. I picked myself up and to my surprise answered the marhsalls questions correctly. They asked if I needed to go to the medicentre and no was my answer. Staggered back to the paddock and sat down with a cup of tea. I couldn't hear or see much at all. The edges of my vision were completely blurred and I had 2 blurred rings right in the center. I must have been talking gibberish (even more than usual) as after attempting to talk to one of my friends he promptly took me to the medicentre. I sat down, had another cup of tea and then vomited in the sink Neutral

They wisked me away on my lovely new wheelchair to the local hospital where I was signed in and was left to be seen. 10 minutes passed and I needed to be sick again. Luckily I had the cardboard sick bowl that I had been using as a hat for the past 30mins Laughing

Stood up and walked to the coffee machine where I preceeded to empty my stomach. I think I must have passed out again as I don't really remember much until I woke up with a neck and head brace on, strapped to a trolley. I was injected with anti-sickness drugs and rushed for a Xray followed by a CT scan. I was starting to feel a bit better after the CT scan and was sitting up and openeing my eyes. An hour later and I was talking sipping tea and wanting to go home Mr. Green

At a guess I was doing around 80 - 100mph when I highsided. I was pretty much on the straight and had been on full throttle for a couple of seconds. Scary stuff eh...

They doctors said that If it wasn't for my back AND chest protector I probably wouldn't be here right now. So anyone who does any kind of trackdays bare this in mind. It's money will spent.

Sorry if this post is a bit all over the place, I have a bit of a headache still Laughing

Ride safe,

Damon

Clearways is where my rear went too. Something wrong with that bit of the track I reckon. Whistle Embarassed Laughing

How did a back/chest protector save you?

My favourite part is the fact I'm imagining you sat in a hospital waiting room with a stupid grin on your face as if really stoned, with the sick bowl-hat on your head.

Good work.

The bike hit me in my chest plate. They said that without that plate I would have broken ribs or worse.

They were Pirelli wets as far as I know. Was running 56/57s in the wet so I'm getting faster Thumbs Up

Bike isnt too bad. Just a broken rearset and some panel damage. Haven't had a real look yet though. I'll keep you posted when I have a proper look.

I went back to brands yesterday to pick up the leathers. I thanked the marhsalls and the ambulance crew. They were top notch. Couldn't fault them at all. so thumbs up.

Bike was a trackbike that I was using on the road Daily. It's coming off the road next month anyway as there is a supermoto in the pipeline Mr. Green

Glad you're not too badly hurt! Very Happy

I'm sure that section of Brands is famous for highsides. Thinking

Lean angle + keen throttle + bumps = Hurt Hurt Hurt Hurt

next time, don't bother with tea, can of coke (sugar&caffeine) and 400g of Ibuprofen Thumbs Up i had a crash about 2 weeks ago, where i was powering onto the straight and the outside footpeg snapped off resulting me going off the track and ending up in a heap Confused

highsides can be pretty nasty even if you manage to stay on the bike so i assume its a lot worse when you're actually spat off Shocked

Christ on a bicycle! if that's what your migraines are like I'd hate to see you with a serious head injury!

Massive amounts of caution if i ever treat you in the future... with that said if you come across a very attractive male ambulance crewman tell him your username and he'll make sure you're well taken care of Wink

It sounds like you answered " do you need the medicentre" incorrectly.

It's pretty much all passed now. I have some bruising on my neck, shoulder and knee and still don't feel 100% my self. Feeling a bit hungover. It's getting better each day though which is a good sign Thumbs Up

Cheers, Its a r1. I still havent been to see the bike yet. Next week when I feel 100% i'll go down and make a list of the damage.

Here is a pic before, Mine is the white and black R1 in the corner, I was on the white R1 in the center on that session.
