So, I finally passed my Mod 2 today!
After five attempts and this time with a stinking cold, I managed a pass with 6 minors.
I'm so frickin' happy it's unreal, and it was the best feeling ripping the L plates off the 125.
Now I've just gotta wait for my old man to fix up the bike before I can go and collect it! ____________________ Bikes: '05 Better BT125-20 => '79 Honda CB750KZ (Now a project bike) => '99 Suzuki Bandit 600 => '01 Triumph Tiger 955i

Well done!! I have got a head banging cold also. Been in bed on and off since Sunday. I think the worse is over but hell is it dragging it out.
Anyway, congrats again! Also, what happened on your last 5 attempts? ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

I meant this time was my fifth attempt.
The first fail was for doing 40 on a national speed limit on a dual carriageway.
Second fail was doing 30 in a 20 zone.
Third fail was turning right at a traffic light, I saw the gap, thought about it too much and by the time I moved out, the other car had to brake.
And the fourth fail was partially my fault and partially down to the wankshaft that undertook the instructor in a bus lane (however, I should have been in the bus lane as it was after 10:30...) and tried to undertake me as we crossed a junction. The bus lane ended after the junction, so I moved over to the left, and caused fucky in the car to brake. I was told I would have failed anyway for not using the bus lane. All that guff about reading road signs and such
I was putting way too much pressure on myself last year, so I got myself a 125, rode that for the last 6 months and it seems to have paid off.

That's too bad,
I should think you need to do at least 55 in a national dual carriageway but if you had a 500 then that would be easy and henz sticky at 40 is dangerous. No disrespect.
20mph zones are stupid anyway, studies find that they do not actually work and are silly.
Bus lanes, well... Thats a choice IMO. Unless it was a traffic jam I wouldn't think about it anyway.
I am learning on my own on a 125. I think I am making good progress.
Well done anyway, where did you do your test? ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

Cheers dude!
I did my first 2 tests in Chester, the second 2 in Atherton and today's was in St Helen's. Dunno where about you are, but if you're oop north, avoid booking a test in Chester at all costs, as it's a truly awful place to ride.
As for the riding at 40 comment, you're right, it was dangerous. I was so nervous about speeding, I rode too slow... And for future reference, when on a test, if the bus lane is only in use for set times and your test is outside those times, the examiner will want you to use them as a normal lane, otherwise you'll get a telling off and a fail.
If you're riding a 125, you should be fine for your test, as long as you make sure to keep bad habits to a minimum and keep up with your lifesavers etc.
Best of luck for whenever you go for your test!
And oh yeah, cheers locked! ____________________ Bikes: '05 Better BT125-20 => '79 Honda CB750KZ (Now a project bike) => '99 Suzuki Bandit 600 => '01 Triumph Tiger 955i

Well done Mr Cynical, I had a quite a few attempts at my driving test, I think the more you have them, the harder it becomes, the nerves are the worst to overcome.#
But hey you did it
Did you do the new bit of the test where he told you to find a place then? |

Well done on finally passing, Took me 3 times to pass. Like yourself I made silly mistakes.
First fail I was too nervous and jumpy. The second time was the "invisible car syndrome," You know the one. Check the mirrors, nothing there. Check over the shoulder still nothing. Indicate, Another check and nothing so I pull away and as I check the mirrors for the instructor following I wondered where that big black car thats right up by arse came from!
Third time I thought I had failed but I passed by the skin of my sack!
I know how it feels to fail more than once so Know how good it feels to finally pass.
6 minors is still a pass. As I have said many times, Doesnt matter how messy it is. A pass is a pass!

Nice one.
I was curious about the independent riding bit as I'm useless at following road directions. I even went the wrong way on my Mod 2 withing the first 5 mins. The examiner had to stop to check his map (he wasn't from the area) which burned a couple of minutes. Which was nice. |
