Having made the mistake of leaving the logbook of the NSR I sold in the car of the buyer when he gave me a lift to the station, I was fairly surprised to receive the V5 sent back to me as the new owner had sent it off but failed to put his address on it!! rather cleverly my wife deleted the ebay messages with his name and address and I now have no way of contacting the guy other than the vague recollection that the guys name is Rodrigo and lives in Oxford!! I suppose I am now banking on the fact that he will claim the V5c using his new keepers section Doh! and yes I know i've been a twat! I have bought and sold many cars and never managed this feat of idiocy before Embarassed
still at least so far I haven't had any tickets through Thumbs Up
Is there a way of checking who owns the bike with the reg no?

Did your wife delete your emails? or the eBay messages?

Would be very odd if she'd done both.

send him a message via ebay how long ago was it?

you can use ebay advanced member search to get contact details/ phone numbers etc. if you have a transaction with someone and they email you their detail. after you tell them the item number etc. ive used it a few times

I think the intention is to find out if the op is still regd as keeper or if new owner has regd it.

What about ebay selling history, go through your seller account, the invoice will have item number, go to the item and contact buyer

That is if you didn't do it as an off ebay sale, then it's all lost.

Could phone dvla to tell them and make note of all details of the call, name, date and time etc to cover your backside in case anything happened with the bike

Wrapping my head round this one.....
Personally I think I'd just send the V5 back to DVLA informing them that you are no longer the keeper, and explaining that you 'lost' the new keepers details.
Buyer will at some-point, we presume, have to apply for a log-book, but that's thier problem.

Log onto you ISP's homepage, select emails from there and you'll usually find copies of all your sent and received messages.
For example, my ISP is Sky and I use Outlook. If I log onto www.sky.com and select emails I can see all my messages, regardless of the fact I use Outlook.

stuartadair, that's only if you're using your isp's email in some weird ass configuration.

It's just easier to admit that you've been a bit special to the DVLA Very Happy

Just make up a name and address, sign it and send it off. At least you're not liable for it anymore.

Not sure that would be a massively good idea... I'd bet a pound to a pinch o' shite that the buyer has still got slyrob's contact details, and he'd be in touch at some point asking about said logbook when the DVLA get confused about who the registered keeper actually is.

(They are a tad special...)
