I've been promising myself that I will do a track day this year. I've been riding for longer than I care to think about without alcohol, and I've never given it a go.
My problem is that the ZZR really isn't suitable for the track, and that the Benelli, although built for it, would cost a large fortune if I tried too hard (I know my luck Confused).
So, I'd got to thinking about hiring a bike for a day - adding approx £150 to the cost of the day, or buying a track bike for £1000 or so (not really an option due to work needed doing on the house).

Just when I'd decided to put it on the back boiler for another year and save some extra over the winter, I receive an invitation this morning from Benelli.
Basically I have been invited to attend the Benelli Weekend at Misano is Italy. It's a two day event with six hours a day at the circuit riding Benellis' fleet bikes on the track! There is also a big party on the Saturday night, and a tour around the factory and museum Very Happy
The best thing is - It's FREE because I bought one from new Smile All I've got to pay for is my flight to Italy (£100 return from Stantead) and my hotel for 3 nights (probably another €100).

I'm dead excited - can't you tell Very Happy Cool Very Happy Cool

Sounds like a very good way to get tracktime. And for free it's even better. Do you have to pay anything if you managed to damage one of their bikes?

Will be a good time I would expect, and wished that other bike manafactures would do stuff like this as they'd get more bike sales that way. Laughing Is it a Benelli museum or a general bike one?

Never in the history of chat forums, has someone's custom title been so appropriate.

Yeah, I was thinking that Cool
Ste, as far as I know (and I'm not certain at the moment), it's the Morbidelli Motorcycle Museum in Pesaro. There should be some lovely bikes there Smile
Anyone fancy coming to do some camera work for me? (At your own expense obviously Laughing )

Did I mention I'm excited Very Happy

What do you mean the ZZR really isn't suitable for the track. Surprised There's nothing wrong with one of them for a track day. I've seen all sorts at track days and a ZZR handles ok and is certainly no slouch. Book one at somewhere like Mallory Park (excellent track and easy to learn), get yourself in the Novice group (don't be ashamed, you've got to start somewhere and it's easy to go up a group as you improve, not so easy to go down a group if your confidence is dashed or you've 'binned it'. Get on and improve your riding and really get to know your bike!! Cool
