My dad and I are in the process of doing up an old 1959 Royal Enfield Crusader Sport, but we're not sure what colour(s) it should be.

All the bodywork will be black except for the tank/chain guard/side panels (the mud guards will be chrome), which we are thinking should be red at the moment - could anyone do a quick photoshop so we could see what it would look like please?

This is the bike at the moment:

This is pretty much an original colour scheme, but I don't really like the colour Confused

If anyone has any other colour ideas that would be good too, cheers Smile

The original colour scheme is the one you have!!

The red one looks like the ones made in India.

Loose the green fuel line and you're good to go I'd say. Thumbs Up

On a sidenote. I am pleased to see that your 1959 Enfield is suffering from the exact same "sagging mainstand syndrome" as my 2007 one.

I had been moaning like hell about cheap Indian materials and engineering. It turns out it's actually an original feature.

Thanks Stinkwheel!

I agree it looks good to go in the pic, but up close it's fairly tatty. The tank is full of dents and filler, it used to be chrome but it's all fallen off.

We've actually taken it all apart and restored parts, so now it's all in bits ready to be painted and put back together.

You do know you can buy brand new tanks for them from hitchcocks?

Probably not much more than a good quality paint job.

Cheers for that, I just had a look but I can't see any crusader tanks except for in the used section.

It feels like cheating if we just buy a new tank though I think!

I think maybe a colourscheme like this might work:
