The thing is, the protest in France was for something people actually care about, not some bullshit parking charges that no body cares about.

Wow, this guy never ceases to amaze me. What person wakes up in the morning and goes "yeah i know exactly how to make friends and recruit people to my cause, i'll go on forums and Spam, and when someone complains, i'll put caps lock on act like fucking 4 year old who'd been told to eat his veggies". seriously, if you want people to listen to your incessant ramblings, then don't start getting on your high horses and get patronising and condescending to people.

I live and work in London, I hate the bike tax.

But people on here are from all over the UK and further. I really dont think they give a shit. So next time you want to interest people in something they really don't give a shit about, getting rude isnt going to help.

Granted bigblackjet's response wasn't the best, but he has a point. This is a forum to talk about bikes and the general news that surrounds them. It is in biking news section, and the linked article is about a piece of biking news and therefore not 'off topic'.

Carvel, just because you find it uninteresting or boring is no reason to be abusive.

Their is more to it than just this one post. Check BBJ's other posts and topics that he has started or crontributed too. Most if not all are about NTBPT.

Why are they blaming us? If they did it for any and every motorised vehicle from the start then there would be no problem now Shocked

Carvel, just because you find it uninteresting or boring is no reason to be abusive.

If this had been a sole un-connected post, I doubt he'd have received that response.
The reason for the response he received was the many previous posts where he has been pushing his "no to tax" thingy cause - in rather rude and obnoxious manners that have annoyed a lot of people.

I understand that you guys may not like the original poster but that is no reason to be abusive about what him when he posts something useful, that's all I was getting at. Besides people can change and the main thing I was getting angry about is the way Carvel dismissed what he had to say off hand as being spam before even reading it. I am sorry if I upset people, but it's not my fault if I don't know a forum members back history and I don't really expect to be treated badly when I make a point, whether you agree with it or not.

I was only trying to explain why BBJ's post was deemed as spam Thumbs Up

He may well raise some good points, but they get lost in his continued posts / threads about NTBPT.

At what point do you start changing the way you react to someone that cries wolf?

As for being 'treated badly', I find it useful to have a thick enough skin that a generic jpeg doesn't offend too much - useful for this forum, never mind the rest of the internet. Doubly so if you jump in to someone else's fight.

this is very weak. hating on the guy and dismissing his post cos you dont like what he's said about ntbpt...

you will be the first to start crying when the EU decide to ban filtering and impose a yearly test over here so maybe you should take it on board instead of moaning about something thats not even in this thread.

I believe the EU tests are currently being mooted as a replacement for the MOT. The outcry according to BBC London a few nights ago was that these tests only happen every 2 years and start once the vehicle is 4 years old. The AA representative was talking about how many more poorly maintained deathtraps would be on the roads.

FEMA article.

Just more EU bullshit. 2 years is too far apart to have any impact on safety - any actually effective regime would be based on mileage, not time.

I'd hope that even Brussels could draw up legislation that says "at least every 2 years" and "beginning no later than 4 years after first registration", but they're perfectly capable of cocking it up and stopping us from keeping our annual MOTs.

By the way, apparently we've been caught having fun, and you know how the EU can't allow that. Come 2017, all new bikes will have to come with tamper-proof ECUs and exhaust bolts, mandatory ABS (or linked brakes on 125s and 50s), On Board Diagnostics, and to have to meet Euro 5 emissions (bikes are currently on Euro 3) including a high mileage retest.

So expect the number of bikes available to drop (Royal Enfield must be bricking themselves), and prices to rise. Plus ça change.
