To start with you need a derestricted NSR... my partially derestricted one couldn't keep it up for more than a second.
On a peaky bike like the nsr you need to dump the clutch: just let go of it... don't try and slow it down, it has to be sudden.
Start at fairly low revs (ie 5/6krpm) going along at a walking pace... the wheel shouldn't come up, but you'll get used to dumping the clutch. Then try 1000rpm higher, see what happens then another 1000rpm etc.
On tourquier (sp?) bikes you just need to dip throttle (at about 7000rpm on my zx6r, half that on the klr650), then whack it fully open.
To 'sustain' wheelies you need to get to the balance point, this is where the bike goes light and is usually the point at which I get scared and shut off the throttle . |
