Need more information on my "fkp" bit, I know it means mopeds..I have a 50cc moped. Says it will expire in 205 [code 122].

Does this mean I don't have to redo my CBT every 2 years? Got my full license in January 2008. Also does it mean I can ride without L plates and can carry pillions?

This is some rumour my brother's girlfriend has just been told by someone who made her do half a CBT before telling her she didn't need to do it because she had fkp on her license, therefore is allowed to ride a 50cc moped, without L plates, carrying pillions, until it expires..

is this true or is it total bullshit?

Thanks very much guys..would love to get rid of my L plates, while I'm stuck with a low CC engine

Is it a green photocard (i.e. a provisional licence)?

If so, you've been fed bullshit: You need a valid CBT, L-plates, no motorways, and no passengers - as a learner.

If you've got a "full" moped/motorbike licence (you'll know because you'll have taken a test to get it), then all that makes more sense.

Code 122 means valid on successful completion: Basic Moped Training Course.

From 1 February 2001, a person passing a car driving test will be required to undertake a moped riding course before they can ride a moped on the road. A code number 122 is printed on the driving licence. This is only valid after a driver has successfully completed a basic moped training course.

If you've got a full car licence, and you've taken your CBT within 2 years (either before or after getting the licence) then you can ride a moped without L's etc.

To ride a moped on a car licence- you only need to do the CBT once (until your licence as a whole expires in like the 2050's or 2060's. But, as soon as you touch a 125 and put that on the road, the CBT has to be taken every two years as you are now using a 125.. It's strange because you can use a 125 for two years- then revert to a 50 for the rest of your life Rolling Eyes

That's how I saw it, see it, feel it.
