it appears as a result of my exam results the parents think its all the fault of internet

so when they get back they say they are taking it away, so im gonna disapear, fuck knows what happens then

its unfortunate they dont understand, the inet is a much as part of my life as anything else i do, i wouldnt have met any of you guys without it, and i also met one of my best mates over it, its the way i spend my evenings, and the way i plan a lot of my RL activities

for them its just a luxury, the way they see it is, that they got along without it before, and they can get along without is again, they claim they are taking it away so my bro doesnt go down the same path as me

i didnt enjoy this year at school, so i dont see why i should bother doin something i dont enjoy, they seem to think uni is the only way forward in life, which is another fuckin stupid hypothesis

i offered to pay them rent for me living here, but they refused, which shows they are always wanting a certain amount of control over me, and as long as im living here that wont change, and even when i turn 18 i can see this remaining the same, i want to be in charge of my own life and not have to do what they think is right, or follow the crowd, they didnt blow a fuse over the results, and are staying calm, but it is clear that they have been thinking stuff over, and its also clear they still want me to run my life "their" way

where i go from now i dunno, i'll be on the net till around wednesday thursday time, but i thought id post this now, this will be a goodbye (hopefully temporarily) to all those i havent met offline, i will still try to make stockley, chelsea, and box hill whenever i can, and hopefully find out about any major meets from the guys i see there, im still pushing towards a new bike as planned, but god knows how long it will take to get if im not working in a real job

so to all i know and dont know, have met and have yet to meet, thank you for letting me be part of this forum community and for making me feel so welcome

see ya round

Funnily enough Goose, my parents did the same thing. My dad uses it for eBay and mum doesn't use it. Because my dad uses it for eBay he is on for like an hour max at a time. I am on for maybe 2 hours at a time, which to my mum is far too much, she doesn't realise I talk to you guys and play counter-strike etc as well. She also had a go at me about getting a bike too, 'they're deathtraps' etc, coming from the woman who accounts for 50% of road accidents each year. She pisses me off so much, she even complained that I whooped her Daewoo Matiz to Mablethorpe from where I live (about 80 miles) despite having set off 20 mins after her, and passing her at country lanes at 90mph. She insisted I was riding like a lunatic. She is so bitchy I swear, the thing is, ok when I get caught speeding, or crash, or kill someone then yeah i'll listen, but until then I wish people like my mum will stop giving me all this shit about don't do this, this is bad, etc when they've done it themselves and I am yet to do it. My mum complains about everything, she complained about me going to RnB, but now I just say I am going to do something, and if she argues just say mum I don't think you understand, I AM DOING IT so either like it or not, I am doing it. Enough bitching, sorry, it's coz she's told me I have work at 9am and it is 11.52pm and I should be going to bed. LOL yeah right...

As a parent myself, I see their side but as a child (at heart) I see yours.

They 'think' it's for the best but don't realise that to study hard, you need a distraction occassionally to relieve the pressure and allow your mind to relax.

The thing is - don't take it to heart. They are doing it cos they think it's the best thing for you - they are wrong but they don't know that.

Keep smiling and work hard - it'll all work out in the end.

That is sooo harsh! Maybe you should try explaining to them what youve just told us. If you aint happy taking the college/uni route then dont do it. Your parents will understand. At then end of the day you have to do what is best for you and they will know that. They will want you to be happy, and if going to uni will make you unhappy then they aint going to want that. I know what Im talking about, cuz Im in a similar situation at the mo.

My mum did a similar thing when I was taking my GCSE's a few years ago. She took my PS off me for a coula months before then it was my b'day part way through the exams and I had a new game. I had to plead with her to let me play the game, then she took it back off me and I had to wait for a coupla weeks after my last exam before I could get it back.

That is unlucky mate Sad

If you don't like school <shudder>, then maybe it's because of the subjects that you have chosen?...do you have a college nearby?...there are loads of different A-levels nowadays, and I'm sure that you can find some that you will enjoy/appreciate (more Confused)...also, you can access the internet in college Razz

Unfortunately, there are just soo many so-called "graduates" (doing pointless/academic subjects) nowadays, that you are more likely to get frowned upon rather than appreciated. Besides, you can always get a degree later on in life, should you need one.

Sit down (or lie down) and think about what you really want to do in the future...what kind of job do you want?...what are your (realistic) aspirations in life?
...and then try to find what you need in order to achieve these goals...ambition and enthusiasm is sometimes better than a few letters after your name, you just need a way of proving it though...

Try not to get too down about this, it's merely another obstacle in life, you *will* get over it. As I said, make some plans over the next few days...tell your parents about them...you never know...

awwwwww /me Hugs Goose Sad

I never really got on with education either.... with my mum being a teacher, school-college-uni was *the* route I was gonna take and that she had been planning for since I was born. I did move out at 18 so my mum couldn't hassle me too much when I left college and I am on a similar salary to hers now anyway. However living on your own allmost allways has more disadvantages than advantages.... just keeping up with bills is a lot harder than you might think.

If you don't want to go back next year, get a job for a year and see how you feel after a year of 'real' work.... I know that if I had the choice with hindsight I probably would do college/uni again. Hopefully if you're working your parents will be a bit more reasonable as well.

No way Goose........tell your parents that I demand that you are to keep your internet access!!
Disallowing you internet access will not change things.......it will only make you miserable and rebellious.
Also you wont be able to have your saturday afternoon chats with M! (which she will miss)

I am sure you will return/stay goose!!

/me hugs goosey....

ur a bright boy, dont give everything up and dont take it to heart, get ur studies done, (a-levels) and get on with life and fuk ur parents...

if u give up now ull have no job to go to (and trust me it takes a long tyme to find a good job - im sure ppl willl back me up to) and ull get a shite wage and still live at home...

best bet is do ur a levels and do it for ur self not for ur mum and dad, and after that u can get a job, travel... etc... that way ull be happy and ur parents will be happy..

...also dont forget ur not the only 1 that fuks up exams, a lot of ppl do.. why dont you do a couple of a levels that you want to study in a year... dont quit mate,....

ps u can come round to my yard and use the net... and get ur phone sorted out so that i can speak to you...

and remember life is more important that bikes... Confused

I can back him up there, look at me. I didn't go to college because I was going away to do my RAF training... when I turned that down I was left with no education, so now I am stuck in a shit job with shit wages that I really hate. If you want some qualifications and money, do an apprenticeship. The wages aren't great, but you don't pay tax so it's not too bad
