The main kilometerage reading on the odometer on my Bros has got stuck at some point, despite my misguided attempt today to sort it out (I had to saw open the speedo casing).

I have no way of proving that the readings are genuine before I bought it because the MOT from 2009 has the same distance on it (it must have broken some time between the 2008 and 2009 mots). However I'm quite sure the bike hasn't done any real distance in the past decade as the seller said from time I've spent working on it.

Anyway. There is a set of clocks on ebay with 58000km on them (mine have 27500) which I could get pretty cheaply. Is buying these and obviously keeping the original clocks the best plan? I know the situation is never going to be ideal...

Thanks

Sounds like you've come up with a pretty sensible solution to the problem.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Thanks. Just wondered if there's any other steps I should be taking that might make life easier for myself when I come to sell the bike. BCF seems to be a good place to ask for such wisdom.

Seems like the best option. Just keep the old clocks and the MOTS showing the old mileage. There is very little else that you can do.
