hi guys and girls, i need sum help!

i bought a brand new nsr125 in feb/march this year, and im very impressed so far. however its too slow, max speed 75mph, 0-60 in 11 secs. I wanna get it derestricted, but im not that mechanically minded so who does this sort of thing, and how much would it set me back?

Appreciate any advice people!!

Cheers, Mike

do i not have to buy stuff 4 it, like a front sprocket or something? couldnt believe the difference, sitting at the lights in my honda nsr 125 next to an aprilia rs 125 thinking it was gonna be a good battle, how was i supposed to know it was gonna be de-resricted?!? talk about embarrassment, can't be having that again! he was gone! If i get mine de-restricted, can i change my pea-shooter exhaust and get a bigger bore can 4 it? all i want is 4 my bike to be quick and sound good!

erm no big exhausts for it im afraid and there isnt much chance of making it sound good.... you can purchase an arrows exhaust system for about 210 quid tho nice carbon fibre can looks better than the standard one, still very small though Smile

thanx for the advice guys, but this aprilia i came up against sounded trick, couldnt see the exhaust but sounded quite throaty, obviously nowhere near as good as a sports bike but i'd be more than happy with that. what bout getting an air filter 4 it?

You could get a nice K&N air filter they would make Quite a diffrence but you would need to get tit set up on a rolling road (re-jetted)and thats a good £50-£100..
A new exhaust would give u a bit more top end power but u would lose out on the bottom end grunt,, the airfilter would give u better power throughout the whole rev range cos u are getting more air and fule in to the engine = MORE POWER

nice one, i'd much prefer quicker acceleration and lower top end though. are the air filters pretty much universal? do they even do them for a nsr125?

Putting an aftermarket air-filter or drilling some holes (not everywhere!) into your airbox would get the bike running faster and sounding a lot 'deeper' and meaner! Heheh Smile

But before you go on an do that.. make sure you run-in your engine properly and get somebody to check the air-fuel ratio to make sure it isn't running too lean (when you change air box etc).

You should be able to keep up with an aprilia RS 125 if you de-restrict and change air-box.

If you want more power.. you could put in a race expansion chamber and exaust.. but again you would have to know what you are doing cause it would have to be tuned.

thats the thing, I would have to rely on someone else to do this work, cos i quite simply dont trust myself with engines, but there are not that many places widely available that tune/derestrict bikes is there?
