Ive been offered a 97 ZX7R 29k miles Service history. 5 months tax and test for 500 quid. Now im thinking bargain! How much is the going rate for one of these???

Its off a mate and apprently has had

its had a full service
oil,filter,fork seals,new brake lines,brake pads,clutch cable,throttle cable, front windshield , not a spec of rust, couple scratches on the top of tank not major
2 new tyres

non standard paint job = crash damage at some stage

Polished frame could indicate scratches/impact marks from a crash being buffed out

Also to point out It hasnt had a new clutch cable as they are hydraulic, so maybe he meant fresh fluid
ALso the fact its got a respray all over, if tis had a heavy front impact the clocks may not be original so id take the milage with a pinch of salt?

I'll be honest, take it for a ride, if it all feels correct and the engine sounds like its running well, id buy it for £500, even if it has been in a smash. As long as the frame is straight why not.

Though, how close a mate is he? If hes a close mate you would know if it has had any awful crashes recently?

Its in no way a minter, as long as you dont give a shit i think it looks fine for the cash.

He took it in part ex for another bike so hes knows nothing of the history either. just been sitting in his garage. Im going to have a look tommorow night so will see then. And yes it does have a hydralic clutch. He meant Speedo cable apprently
