Passed my cbt today (absolutely pissed it,didn't put a foot wrong)
My instructer said I took to biking like a duck to water!

So I was pretty pleased with myself. Very Happy

So on returning home I grab my keys to my nsr125rr (which I've been cleaning for two weeks now), and set off into the distance.

45mins into my joyfull journey, breesing sweeting through country lanes I hit a patch of horse shit! Shocked

After picking myself out of a hedge of stinging nettles I brushed myself down and inspected my bike.

Anyone got the following parts(all left side).......

Front and back indicators
Gear peddle
Front Left panel (black if poss!)

On the plus side I did brake my new leather jacket in,and it now fits snuggly.(with added mud and nettles)
Laughing

Ah well, now you have got that out of the way you can get on with learning to ride! Wink Everyone does it and you will probably do it again.

This being the case, consider just patching up the plastics for the time being, nothing more annoying than fitting new plastics to fall off on them again.

What you did wrong:

It is a very difficult thing to force your head round, even experienced riders have dificulty with this. You saw the patch of horseshit, thought 'better avoid that, looks slippery' and rode straight through it. This is because when you look at an object on the road, your brain makes you head straight for it.

Try next time seeing the hazard (practice using plastic road markings, like lane arrows and 'SLOW' markings, force yourself to ride accross the bottom of the L or between the letters) and going "I shall go round the inside/outside of that" You need to look at where you want to go, not what you want to avoid. It is very difficult to do though.

You could always come on the learner ride out on 28th August, Brockie.

The details are in the outings and excursions section.

Hey, I never noticed that before.

Shocked He's bloody right Shocked I do it all the time with them "perforated" speed bumps. Look at the gap and go "I'm goin THRU there", and then ya go STRAIGHT OVER THE BUMP instead.

I think it is called target fixation.

It's one of the downsides of having lights permanently on for cars and bikes. In a developing accident, your eyes can be drawn to the light, and your vehicle follows, instead of taking avoiding action.

Always look where you want to go, not at what you are trying to avoid.
