I just got totally abliterated by a CG125.

I pulled up at the traffic lights on my restricted NS125R and a CG125 pulled up next to me, he wanted a race and i thought yeah go on then i can take you.

How wrong i was, started well and got ahead of him then he started gaining on me, he then overtook me, i shortened the gap a little but i rode home with a red face. Embarassed

As i was riding home i noticed that i couldn't get over 65mph on the straight(normally about 73mph) and realised my foot was resting on the brake pedal, took my foot off and shot straight up to 75mph.

I have just got new boots and they are not very flexible, i think i will have to adjust the pedal height as i seem to be doing it all the time now.

Maybe thats why i didn't beat him, anyway i'm derestricting it this week so i should blow his little CG away.

Laughing Haha that's very funny!

Bet you can't wait to de-restrict now! Once it's done you will not believe how different the NSR is. Shocked Much, much quicker.

Thumbs Up In the meantime don't race anymore people Wink

Or hang you're toes away from the bike, out of the way. Keep you're heels on the footrests.

When you're learning i wouldn't reccommned putting toes physically back on the pegs. Its easier to go on the brakes if you're toes are closer to the brake lever.

Or you could just NOT rest you're toes ON the brake lever... Wink

You look like a twat if your toes are sticking out sideways from the bike though.

I have size 12 feet and keep pressing the rear brake on my learner (SR125) too. Annoying.

Sometimes I put my foot "under" the brake/gear lever, sometimes to the side. Sometimes I shift it back so that my toes are almost on the pegs.

I am guilty of covering the brake more than I should. I blame this entirely on when I had a 350 powervalve which tried its level best to flip you off the back on every gear change and powerband up to about 85mph. I found that by hovering your foot over the brake pedal, when the front end came up the lever was automatically pressed a little and brought it back down without really having to think about it

What kind of speed do you get once de-restricted?

I would say you would get about 95 tops out of it derestricted with no mods. I've had mine at a indicated 80mph downhill and thats restricted but i have only ever had it that fast twice. Usually cruises nicely at about 70 and 75 on a slight downhill or 75 on the straight if you get your head tucked down and your chest on the tank.

Could be a guy from my town if he was on a red CG in Carlisle. If it is, don't get into a race with him again. He has failed his test about ten times in the last eight years!

I think my NSR is derestricted without mods...and for a 125 it flys like shit of a stick. 0 - 60 in about 6 seconds and I've had it up to 93 - 95 ish whilst being at 9k revs so I imagine the bike would easily got 100 + if the road you was on was long enough! You don't need to be going downhill tho!

In all seriousness, it is better to ride without covering the rear brake and clutch lever - i.e. toes on the pegs.

I will make the appropriate change in my riding style if you think it will be beneficial. Chequered Flag .

I ride with the balls of my foot on the pegs, and my toes under the gear change/brake. It's very uncomfortable sitting your foot at 90 degrees unless you are sitting far back and bolt upright.

Not true, and I find I can hit the brake quicker if my foot is to the side, instead of toes on the peg.
