Hey all is there a way to get more power from a CG125 engine?
Its a field bike not a road bike btw..
Gearing change? front/rear sprockets? carb mods etc..

Thanks Smile

Change the carb, free flow filter... maybe play about with sprockets, but short of spending serious money, this is all you can do

Done the freeflow filter, might jiggle about with the carb, is a 150 head worth the increase?

I wouldnt have thought so. If you're feeling lucky, mill the head for a bit more compression, and make sure your ignition timing is spot on.

Scoot along with your feet?

Seriously though, refreshing and renewing every part will get it as close to its original power as possible and they don't have a whole lot more to offer than that.

No

To expand on this answer:
Pound for smile, nothing you can do to the CG is worthwhile. Upgrade to a bigger bike, the performance is in another world, and if you're sensible won't cost you as much as jazzing up your CG.

Ah right well the general feel is you cant do that much.
Ok well its a good field bike as it it as i have converted it to mono shock, put a cone air filter on it and a knobbly back wheel Smile
Its just a bit noisy as i have crafted a stainless up and over trials style exhaust pipe but cant seem to silence it down much so any ideas on that one?

Thanks Smile

Even if you quieten the exhaust down you are going to get alot of intake noise with an open air filter.

Unless you are getting complaints about the noise when you are out riding don't worry about it.

If your after pepping the bike up a bit you can just fit a bigger back sprocket, you are not likely to be tearing round a feild at the 60+mph the original ratio gets you,

shorter gearing for better acceleration is worth it off road especialy when you are attacking mud etc, 125 2t crossers are geared so short they would be lucky to see 60-70mph but can spin the back wheel up pretty easily on most surfaces and climb very steep hills.

I like this idea!
What rear sprockets off what other bikes will go on the cg fitting?

You can get after market sprockets for the cg in a multitude of sizes both larger and smaller than stock, you will need to experiment with the number of teeth and chain length untill you are happy with how the bike feels.

If your math savvy you could look up your gear ratios and calculate your new max speed for each sprocket size from them.
