So has anybody been watching this? For those who don't know it's an adaptation of an award winning book by George R. R. Martin. It's high fantasy starring Boromir himself. It's made by HBO the network behind Band of Brothers, Pacific etc and is a stunningly pretty high quality series by anybodies standards. It's high fantasy but has more violence, death, fucking and nudity than i think i've seen from a TV show. Some of the women in it are damn nice looking too.

Anyway has anybody else been watching it? I'm bloody impressed and considering blasting through the book!

It's not as good as the book. When was the last time ANYTHING was as good as the book? Yet people still always seem to feel the need to point this out as if it were shocking news Laughing

Yea, been watching it.
Nicely done; very rare to see something of this genre with money thrown at it. Apparently the author is really big in the US, thus the money.

Read the synopsis of the books on Wikipedia. Sounds a bit depressing, so don't think I'll bother reading them Smile.

Been watching, good so far.

But the books get really boring, really fast after the 1st one.

I'm waiting for it to come out on Blu-ray so I can watch it on the projector. Looking forward to it though.

No, and tonnes less than gods of the arena.

What they need to do with that show is get her that played gabrielle in for some xena loving action. om nom nom.

Also, the game of thrones TV series is like the harry potter movies, great if you've read the books and can fill the blanks in, pretty bland otherwise.

Yeah I download all the TV I watch but for something like this (which I expect I'm really going to enjoy) I'd rather add it to my onlone rental list and see it in a less compressed format (and in 1080p). I also hate having to wait for each episode, I enjoy watching the whole series back to back much more.

I did the same with The Pacific and that was brilliant.

It's getting better, The first episode was a bit shite, seemed like the sort of hollywood film where you can work out the whole film in the first 10 minutes, Has changed alot.
Worth a watch anyway.

Just thought I'd say cheers for the heads up. Much better than I was expecting.

They do make certain things seem overly important, only to drop them later.

I'm watching episode 7 now... anyone know how long the series runs for? I'm hoping for a 12 episode with crisp resolution (like BoB)... not 4 meandering seasons.

The white walkers have been completely forgotten after the first 10 minutes of episode 1... which suggests this may go on forever.

Only 4 books released so far (book 3 "Storm of Swords" was re-released as 2 separate volumes). I've been waiting for book 5 for over 5 years and it's finally due out next month - I just hope to God he doesn't take another 5 years to do the next installment.

Or do a Robert Jordan...

I carried the ridiculously massive hardback of A Feast For Crows back on a bike on the day of release. It would have made a useful cosh if I've got into a barney in traffic, I suppose. Very Happy

I bloody well hope not. I've had to read the first four books again in preparation for book 5. For some reason I thought that would be the last book of the series.

He's the same age as Jordan (was). So older now, strictly. What with RJ being already dead and all.

He'd better hurry up. At this rate, it'll take him another 15 years and he'll be pushing his luck...

I was disturbed by the blatant lack of boobies in last night's episode. Not in keeping with the previous episodes at all.
