Just bought an IRIS X-Ring chain that has 112 links, and my bike takes 110. Just wondering how i should get the two links off??

I have got a chain breaker and riveter set but was just wondering if there was an easier way of taking two off, and maybe even having them taken off so i can reuse them if others are damagaed?

A decent riveter will have multiple tips to use with it. One will be for breaking the chain, one for riveting. Use the breaker to take 2 links off the end.

Does the chain tool have a piece which looks like this?

Use that to push the pin out of the link - it may help to grind the head of the pin first.

File/grind the head off the rivet pin and use the chain breaker attachment to push the rivet out. Technically, you don't NEED to file the head off first but it makes it a lot easier and less likely to damage your chain breaker.

As for saving them, the tool you have ordered will not be able to re-rivet the pin back in even if you did manage to salvage the link, you need something capable of rivetting hard links to do that (something like a whale chain tool). Yours is for soft/hollow links Thumbs Up .
