Ok so i have a CG125 W,

I put it away about 2-3 weeks ago, all was working fine, exept the battery that was dying.

So i got it out, tried it, wasn't starting, recharged the battery, made no difference.

I took the spark plug out, kept it connected to the cable thing. Kicked the bike and it didn't spark at all so i figured it was the plug, bought a new one, Still doesnt spark. Any ideas?.

You have to have the HT lead connected and hold the SIDE of the spark plug against the engine casing as an earth. Thumbs Up

Carb could be empty of fuel. Give it several good kicks. Could need fresh petrol, it does go off.
Go try it, see if its sparking. If so, and if its possible, put a SMALL amount of petrol down the spark plug hole, put the plug back in correctly and give it a good kick. It should fire and will rev up and cut out. Try that lot, let us know what it does/doesnt do and we can help ya more Smile

No kill switch, the Electric start part of the bike seems to have been taken out for what ever reason, it operates a s a kick start only

Check the wires in the ht lead are actually touching the spark plug sometimes they work loose and need freshening up.

THere is absolutly no spark, I think that maybe i need a new HT Lead /wire or whatever they are called, I was twisting it earlier, not knowing anything about them and i read that they can break by being twisted / bent, Is this true?

If it's been stood for 3 weeks the petrol would have blocked up the jets in the carb. Clean out the carb, then try starting it again.

If you're going to leave it standing for a long time you'd be best off using it so you can manually switch off the petrol from entering the carb.

I allways turn the fuel tap off / closed when i put the bike away every night.

How do you clean out the carb, and where is it?

plus, there is no spark from the spark polug, Clogged jets / carb would not stop the spark from the plug would it?

Blocked jets can stop petrol reaching the combustion chamber, thus no fuel can be ignited by the spark from the plug.

Is the battery holding a charge?
It should read 12.5v>. Anything below 11v could mean a duff battery.

there IS no spark from the plug, it does not spark at all. and the battery does hold a charge to some extent, i think it may be on its way out

it was running when you put it away but battery was going flat!
petrol wont go off in 3 weeks!
the carbs wont suddenly get blocked and gummed up in 3 weeks! alot of people leave there bikes 6months at a time with no issues me included

i would say to you your battery is shagged ,if a battery runs too low some bikes wont generate a spark
put a new battery on and take it from there ,failing that hook up some jump leads and try that, i assume its 12v?????????

It is a 12V, and i have had some trouble with the battery, It goes ok for a few hours / days and then sort of dies, the indicators seem to start flashing really quicky, Very very quickly and then it just dies.

So the battery could be the problem?

Anyes it's a 12V.

Can't bump start it either, don't know if you can with a flat battery though

some bikes will run ok with out a battery others wont, the bikes that wont need a good battery to maintain a good spark so from what youve told us a battery would be my 1st port of call then check the voltage on the charging system once its running

A general message to users of the workshop forum:

Please do not title threads "Help, please help!" Or similar, it makes your thread much less likely to get read. Put in the make and model of the bike and the problem...

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
